You got it. Glad to hear that- curious to hear your impressions. Personally, I like owning jackets from the bespoke, one man band type makers. I bought my buddy a Mark Fisher jacket on here some months back and he loves it. The one off stuff is kind of cool. No disrespect to any of the bigger...
I would mention the Aero Sheene- been a couple of threads on here as of late. Clearly a slim fitting jacket although it may just be a cafe racer with a traditional collar. Not sure if that would work but definitely looks tapered and very complimentary on the right build.
Given that I'm incurable racer fan, this thread is one that I appreciate. I very much like that Shields blue jacket; think the relatively minimalist design of racer allows for colors and even two tones. Brimaco made a cool pattern, very long and I've seen them in two tones a bunch. I had a...
Talk away. That's what the lounge is for. Besides, if you get a screaming deal, I think it is incumbent upon you to scream. Not sure if that's an official rule or not. Tact and diplomacy have no place in their realm of great deals on jackets.
The short answer is I don't know. I know he and John Chapman purchase their horsehide together so that was good enough for me. I also recollect the jacket getting delayed because he rejected two batches of horse hide and was supremely pleased with the one he got. By the time it got me, I was...
I think so and you should pat yourself on the back because you got an outstanding deal. I look forward to hearing and hopefully seeing pics of your shinki racer.
Cheers,
Dave
This thread has been therapeutic. I think we should go in for group. I've recently thinned out my outerwear collection, parting with six jacket/coats but far too many remain. How I envy those who have five or six quality jackets and that's that. I'm new to this so forgive some of my more...
Oh...I spoke to Diamond Dave the other day asking about shinki. That $930 price was a one-off "screaming deal," as he put it and that shinki jackets will start at around $1300. Given the price of the Himel Kensington track jacket/cafe racer that I saw for $3,024 online, he's still an amazing...
Being tall, I personally can't stand a jacket that's too short. I have a buddy who is also 5'11" and look stellar in shorter jackets. That said, he is relatively short limbed and somewhat thick built which helps. You don't appear to be short limbed nor particularly thick built but I have to...
Good to see Diamond Dave getting some good press. I'm the one who posted a video link and review of his J-100 a couple of months back so I'm something of a fanboy/proponent of the man. I've also been able to see and touch both Real McCoy and Himel's J-100s at Blue and Green and Self-Edge...
Hey 2wheel, where did you see them? I saw them at Blue Green in Soho. I'd put my DD jacket up against them. You're welcome to have a look at mine if you're ever around Chelsea.
As the OP of this thread gone a little askew, I do take some responsibility in promulgating Diamond Dave's goods. I did not know it was against policy for him to post pics in this thread even when prompted. Had I known this is the case, I would not have asked him to. I apologize if I was out...
Thanks for posting those pics DD. That's the one I was talking about…great looking jacket; unfortunately I'd look like a complete jabroney in that style but I think the styling is dynamite. In the interim, I'll rock my racer as it's surprisingly warm in a weird way. I've worn it already in a...
Thanks again on all the compliments and I appreciate it Peacoat.
Hey Butte, I'm a DD myself and plenty would say I'm a pita to deal with. ;)
I have to say that I was bracing for some disappointment as this process is by no means foolproof. It's difficult to know what a jacket is really...
You wondered where I went Butte? I was toiling in jacket purgatory and obsessing. Actually, your input was particularly helpful because of your similar size. I remember you being 6'4" and your weight was down to 225 from around 250 which makes us pretty close. I'm the same height, probably a...
Hey Joel, I was born in Manhattan, raised a little in Manhattan but moved to the Bronx as a kid then northern New Jersey. If you ask me where I'm from, I would say Jersey but have lived in Chelsea for the last twenty years save for a stint in Miami and Los Angeles. Thanks for your compliments...
