I bought this 5 years ago for desert wear but we moved to Idaho. So I wear a B1 instead. Im as average as you can get 5’10” 175, 9.5 shoe so this should fit many of you.
Pit to end of leather is 15” pit to end of sleeve 18”
Bottom of collar to bottom of leather is ~22.5 “
Bottom of collar to...
Lansing really ruined his jacket because of his addiction to cigarettes He had somebody sew
a pocket on his left arm for his pack of smokes. Boy did that irritate me!!!!
I have a M422 from goodwear and you talk about the most supple leather EVER!! I got the M422 because
the G-1s are really common and I much prefer the reddish/purple lining to the ever present brown lining
on the G-1's.
What ever you get it sounds like You NEED a mid winter jacket. Not a Heavy winter like the B-3 or
a light jacket like the A-2. You want something like a B-6. Since you want the fur collar that would work
and have the lining you want. OR you can get your M422 and layer underneath, like a...
I got a question for the OP. This is for older jackets right? when you say vintage you mean vintage?
How would you modify your procedure for a shearling?
Depends on where you live. Here in the Mojave the B-6 is fine or my M422A. But when I go to the mountains
and it snows 8 feet in 3 days while I am up there for the holidays the B-3 (goodwear) is the only choice.
I have known two very close friends who were WWII vets. One from the European Theater via D-Day(just recently placed in convalescence home unfortunately and just lost his wife) and one from the Pacific Theater, who died maybe ten years ago. They didnt know one another but the similarities were...
I had a USAuthentic A2 I bought from them. Nice jacket for the price. Hide was nice. Lining was nice but the snaps and clip
werent that authentic and thats where they save money. It was bullet proof however. The horsehide was very thick.
For $1000 you should be able to get a nice Eastman B-3...
I agree with Andrew, I have a Eastman B-3 and Andrews B-3 is an order of magnitude more luxurious. My Eastman B-3
doesnt have that much contrast in the seams, the ELC being more of one color. That Jacket Andrew looks very much like
John Chapman made it with a longer shearling and a deeper more...
Based on your requirements and my intense familiarity with the Sierras I would suggest any shearling jacket that
is short on your waist. Your going to be riding a horse so you have other things below your waiste like saddle bags etc.
You can buy a B-3, or a ANJ-4 or an Irvin. As you know, you...
obviously that last one is the M422 again, the pic option on this thread isnt the easiest and I screwed it up.
This is the pic I left out and the best one of the Star.
i think this is a more recent jacket but still several years old so here is a GoodWear STAR Sportswear.
I dont know what color this is, a darker Russet or a lighter Seal
I have a Monarch Russet but its brand new.
See if this helps:
Mike I have a HH Star GW I can take pics of see if that is any better but it
doesnt have the grain that, the one you just showed did.
That MIGHT be an original (because of the patch)
I have a Gorgon and Ferguson M422 that looks like its 10-20 years old but the mouton looks brand new.
I can put pics up, its a dark seal with some red undertones in a goat. The prettiest jacket I have in my
Goodwear collection
I just got this before Christmas, This beautiful Seal Eastman B-3. Its the jacket that got
me into this hobby. Now I must part with it to cull the herd as everyone says.
I paid $1200 US in Dec and now I am asking $850 plus $40 shipping US or $70 elsewhere
I wore it over the holidays about 5...
