Currently writing my Urban-Fantasy/Detective novel set in 1955 Chicago, which will also be illustrated by Yours Truly. But it's been slow-going; never had to research quite like this one, and its a change from my usual format/style as well. Meanwhile, you can see my other novels and comics (and...
I live in Phoenix, which is a town (somewhat rare, but) always fun to see in Hollywood (or otherwise) movies - wouldn't mind seeing it destroyed in film just for giggles. We got to see Sedona, AZ get torn up for a few seconds in GODZILLA - KING OF THE MONSTERS at least...
Speaking of movie...
Hey Gang,
I've been a writer and illustrator for a long time now, and this past year of Covid-Life gave me an opportunity to finally start-up my publishing business. Among the stuff I write, draw and publish is my WebComic and prose series WARBIRDS OF MARS, a 1940s/50s-set Dieselpunk, New-Pulp...
Well, here we are; 196 PAGES into a thread @LolitaHaze started back before I'd even met her (which was 2007 I think). Holy Carp!!!
I've been making some Shelfie Vids of late of my 1963 House here in Phoenix (where this thread started) and you can see some HERE:

Yeah, that is a TALL hat! Awesome though.
Myself, I'll have to really start listing them here with more description... most are vintage, some newer, and in some cases, I lack the complete terminology

How it Started...
And Yes, that is Colin Baker from Dr. Who
The one that got wore the most...

The perfect hat for an elevator:

I'm really glad to see these sub-genre's breaking out in recent months/years. As an SF genre fan and vintage-lover, its fun to try and put the whole 'Flash Gordon' and Pulp eras back together in new ways. Its not something I've made a Costume for, per se', but I love both genre's (and atompunk)...
WoM
Yeah - I'm sure I'll have enough done before the next Phoenix Comic-con (May) and I'll want to collect/print it in time for that. Keep watching; I'll have it for sale through the WoM site. Thanks for the interest!
Hey gang - I'd like to ask you to show off the things in your life - especially creative - that have come about or are otherwise linked to your love of mid-century time periods and lifestyles.
I'd like you all to see WARBIRDS OF MARS

AZTex Hats
Well, I got my fedora back from AzTex Hats in Scottsdale AZ - took 'em less than 2 weeks and $55 bucks to measure my head, put in a new sweatband and refit the liner and ribbon/band, re-block the hat and hand it back to me in pristime shape... darned thing looks new. I'll try and...
Funny enuff, I've bought a fedora at AzTex, but I didn't realize that they do renovations... I'll have to swing by there at the very least and see what they have to say... THANKS for the link and heads-up!!!!
Can anyone help me with advice on replacing or otherwise covering over the leather liner/sweat-band of my vintage fedora? Perhaps this subject has been tackled on here before, but after a brief search I haven't found the info I am looking for...
I recently got a vintage Manleigh / Paragon...
