Recasting " The Thin Man" Article

remake never has been Hollywood's best thing - it's their financial grasping for straws - we have to make something for the box office

    Depressed by the modern world

you're totally missing the point the people you're bickering with are not "moderns" any more than you are venerables - several of you are just bickering, and people offering honest discussion don't find it worth the trouble regardless, you are in 2013, and will remain here. I suggest you make...

the narcissism of facebook and twitter is a plague on our land. The only thing worse is how our churches have given into it, and don't really stand for anything any more.

this is several snide posts in a row from you, and I won't be telling you what I think of you - I'm gentlemanly that way - but I won't be visiting your thread again, either. I wish you a happy new year, and hope you determine how to make the best of 2013 for yourself. I will tell you how...

I don't think you read DeLorean's book. '63 Pontiac Tempest. '62 Corvair? Hermetically sealed GM starters in the 70s designed to crack after a finite number of uses. Cars are made much better and much safer now.

a slower life is undoubtedly a better life, but in no way relates to the economic statements with which you started this argument . Yes, you have to make your own community today by making an effort. Have you talked to people at Jiffy Lube? Something that happens here, people talk to each...

never wanted a Toyota. But summer before last, drove 2020 miles in 10 days in my F150 hauling 5 people and a popup up and down mountains and over deserts. In 1941 you wouldn't have made that trip without several repair stops, and here we are a year and two seasons later, and my truck still...

    Your favorite movie quotes

truly great movie, but I thought it was one of the worst-delivered lines in the history of the movies. I would go with just about anything Will Holden said, though - the Ugly American that he plays (in every role) is my all-time favorite act in the movies. How about: You give me...

there ain't no getting back hey, I fish rods and reels from 1915 (and people send them to me from all over the world to repair), I don't want to fish anything made today, but I don't want to go back. That would be self-destructive. and I promise not to quote you out of context

I'll let you do your own math, but will answer you with just one example. when was the last time you adjusted the points and carburetor on your automobile. Tasks that used to need monthly attention on autos are non-existent now. You can drive your car now 100,000 miles with only changing...

we can get into politics here about whether the unions hung themselves before or after Jack Welch opened pandora's box. socio-political issues and how they impacted family economics in the 60s and 70s and we can deal with today and make our personal choices - I don't watch tv shows, I don't...

I bought my daughter a very nice Chinese made bike for $450 - it was inexpensive enough and nice enough that I could afford to make it special for her, and have added nice components each Christmas since When you bought a $30 bike, you also bought a $12,000 house. All things being equal...

    Depressed by the modern world

no reason to be depressed, and I disagree with flat absolutes. I know many people who want quality, include myself among them, and there are many quality-made American products, and Japanese and European products as well. They tend to be in internet boutiques and are hyped on bulletin boards...

    Show us your Guns!

You're limited to about 20,000 psi CUP on a modern '73 replica - which is about twice the old black powder loads, but nowhere near what's possible with modern powders. I load .357 to about 1400 fps with 4227 and safe chamber pressures for my Chaparral 1873 replica. If I had it to do over...
