We have a dress down day on Fridays. I now make a point of wearing jeans and t-shirt Monday to Thursday and a suit on Friday.
Make of that what you will.......
Its funny, to me it is the label that makes me think it is latter!
It is a lovely jacket though, and could well be early. I was in there on Saturday. However, do not take my word, I missed a wool mark label in a flat cap :o
The chap on the left in this picture has pleats on the pockets of his jacket, and, rather baggy trousers as well! No proof that it is a belted back jacket!

Its not poohpoohing, its just I like to be different;). I am not sure it was that early, there was something about it that made me feel it was a little latter. However, it was a lovely jacket, and could well be 40s.
Ben
If I still have it, it was a Burtons advert from 1994, for the D-day 50th. It quoted a figure for the de-mob suits it made, and how proud it was to have supported the returning soldiers. If I do have it, it will be at Mum and Dads house (I was only 13 at the time, but it interested me then!)...
The only other label I can find is on a 1901 Officers Jacket. There is no close up though, but, it looks the same. Other than the reference TT found, there is very little information.
Although I believe this suit is pre WW1 at least, let us not be hasty with the label, as, we know many tailors used up old labels so is just anecdotal. Also, as HBK said, England was conservative, I have trousers on suits dated 1945 in almost exactly the same style as these!
I feel turn of...
I think they may have had turnups at some time anyway, they seem to have very faint lines, however, looking how creased the trousers are, I may be wrong.
Whoever it was, was a very tall man indeed!
It his hard to say conclusively, but the fact it is missing a button hole on the lapel, I would say the lapels may well have been altered at some time. A good tailor would be able to do a very neat job of this, I am not sure of a Lesser tailor :D:)
