Thanks Pgoat, sorry, I don´t have a solution for you. FYI, my MacBook arrived the other day and I really couldn´t be happier, my only complaint is the Airport lag to the router. It appears to be an ongoing problem with Apple, but they have yet to fix it. My download sppeds are blazing, but...
It's obvious that the jacket was rarely worn. If the seller is telling the truth which I assume he is then this jacket must have been packed up and sent back. He was most likely wearing his dress uniform anyway and would have had no use for the jacket.
Well, took the plunge...I ordered a new Macbook 13.3 2.4gz in white, kinda didn´t think the black one looked as nice and I can just imagine the fingerprints ugggg. I´d be wiping it down several times a day.:eusa_doh: Now I just gotta wait..Taking back the Viao I bought yesterday, overpriced...
Even if the jacket has historic value like my BNB Bronco....I see nothing wrong with having a pair of period cuffs sewn on. This one had tattered replaced cuffs when I received and a broken replaced zip. I had ELC replace the cuffs and a period zip. Nothing wrong IMO.
I forgot to add....As the USD is at the moment, I believe John would be your best be as far as price goes. BTW, the link to Mash posted is nothing more than an ELC version with a Hilts name strip and a decal....You can make your own, or re-dye mine...NOT.
Give it a shot...As for the label, it does look like a later add on, maybe a vintage store that picked it up and added it on. Either way, great jacket at a super price. :eusa_clap
Looks like some of the top coat has worn or has been scraped away, perhaps a bit of Pecards and then maybe some shoe polish to cover up the lighter colour. As for the label, it looks like the Daniel Boone label os older than the other one that is there, kinda strange.
I'm looking forward to receiving it as well. Funny, the buckles are what attracted me to the jacket in the first place, that plus the fact that it's pre-war as well. Sears? Huh, not sure, maybe, but not sure Sears would go through the trouble to put those art deco buckles on their jacket or not...
Morning to you as well...
Yes, I saw that jacket, wow, what a final price can't say that I could justify paying that, but I'm sure it's valued at that or more.
What sold me on the one I picked up was the art deco buckles, very cool. I'd sure like to know the maker though.
It was pretty...
I managed to luck out and pick this up. Beautiful sunburst Talon dates it to the early 40s. Love the look, especially the art deco buckles, a real nice touch. A real survivor or a bygone era where style really mattered. Now lets just hope the leather is as good as it was described. I'll post...
