I just ordered a m-51 from USWings. I didn't know that this business was run by a Vietnam vet, it's amazing. I thought it was a bigger company. Only problem ordering overseas is the shipping costs from Ohio. Otherwise it's a cool shop :cool:
The Moore Custom guy collects G-1s from 422a spec to 7823D (early versions). 7823 A - B or C are all delightful, even luxurius. In the early 1970s, second batch of 7823D collars started to be synthetic. And since 7823E, overall quality went down and down.
I own a Cockpit G-1 "Mil spec", this...
You can cut them and make a detachable vest. Check this arrangement in a Cockpit leather b-15;
A warning about m-65 liner. The m-65 was an "extendend cold weather" system and it works. A real m-65 + liner is a sauna. You'd better have cold weather there.
I do plan to eviscerate a 7823C G-1 :D. I'm willing to replace all knits, lining and fur from collar. I just haven't found the perfect victim yet to perpetrate my crime.
BTW, jacket-cide nº 2; lately I'm enjoing the handwarmers mod in one of my G-1s :D Probably that poor 7823C will receive the...
With enough space, a cheap way to do this is grabbing a m-65 liner (mine was $6) and adding the buttons to the A-2 lining. With trim fitting, I'd just put a fleece sweater or vest on. Damn :p I use my m-65 liner for everything, best $6 investment ever.
Hell no! ;) All jackets that fit my shoulders have the sleeves too long for me. Specially all the stuff that comes from the US. Don't you have shoulders over there? :D I always have them trimmed by a taylor [huh]
Seb and Smithy, I can feel your pain. I never get used to hot weather either.
BTW, what's the "thermal sensation" in New York and above? Maine, Quebec, Newfoundland...? Colder than the real temperature?
A police badge shaped velcro still looks horrible on a jacket, even if "current issue" has them. None of the Cockpit A-2s have velcros in their current line.
I have 3 of their G-1s but haven't tried any of their A-2, therefore I can't provide an educated opinion.
Cockpit G-1s are very plain...
There are "neck gaiters" in fleece;
Military headovers are cotton with 5-10% spandex. They are larger than regular neck gaiters. You can extend them all over your head or you can fold them and have two layers around your neck.
Whatever it is, a shorter neckgaiter or a headover, we are...
Good info :) Funny to find out it was a submariner jacket.
Let me get this straight :eusa_doh: the Belstaff Panther, the very same one that costs €1,465, is made in China? I can't believe it!
Thanks for the link, very informative.
Ok, so, the original name of these jackets was "Trialmaster".
Since you had one, probably you are on the know; was the belt removable?
