Thanks for the comments! I've worn the Feds (I also have one in Moonstone) the least. I'll give them more head time and see how I feel about them. The brown deluxe Fed is the softest, most comfortable of all of my Akubras. -

I got mine from The Bluewater Group. Since it has the two grommets for a chin strap I assume it came from David Morgan's stock. It was about $20 less than DM sells them for. -

Feathers and pins?
I did. I stuck a Guinea feather in my Akubra Digger from my own flock of Guinea fowl. It was for my own amusement, as I don't wear the hat in public, just around the homestead. -

Akubra Overload
I just got this one, marked Eddie Bauer Digger. It's perfect for the North Carolina bush and for my nightly forays into the chicken coops. As you can see, it also does a great job of shielding my pale skin from the sun. -
I love the Fed IV!!
By the way, I went with the Deluxe and I expected to use steam like I did with my other (non-open crowned) Akubras. But after I finished dry bashing it and tweaking over the next few days, I realized there is no reason to steam it because I am 100% satisfied. -

I'm lucky in that my measured size is 59.5, so I went with a 60. With a couple of felt strips under the sweatband the fit is perfect, and I expect that over time it will be perfect without the strips.
