Stetson Stratoliner with reflanged brim courtesy of Ale. PHL US Airways Hangar. Oh yeah, and that's a successor to the Stratoliner behind me. Airbus A330-323.
Help a colorblind guy out. My da bought a western hat for me in a warm, slightly yellow version of silverbelly. Think real vanilla ice cream or heavy cream. (It's a Quigley II from Rand's Custom Hatters that we found at an antique store for next to nothing. Happy birthday, me!) I love the felt...
Just don't leave your hat near a blowing a/c vent or anything that will speed up the drying time too much. Let the hat dry slowly, evenly, and naturally and everything will turn out fine. Good luck!
Does that new, tough hat happen to be wool felt? If it is then you're going to have a really...
More than a little, anywhere from a moderately high amount to a lot under your definition. I use liberal amounts of steam to shape and reshape my hats, though some on here think that it has the potential to deform the felt. Hold the spray bottle close enough to the hat to not splash extra on...
I think associating between face shape and brim width is a lot like solving algebra, it's all made up and looks right no matter what answer you get. ;)
(I tend to match my hat's brim to my lapels when I wear a jacket, however.)
Plaid and houndstooth fedoras were a trademark of legendary American Football coach Paul "Bear" Bryant in the 1960s-1980s. Real men, older men, can pull them off. I happen to attend his school's rival so they're a "no no no no no!" for me, though.
Rick Blaine, that cloth fedora in the top...
Is anyone on the lounge satisfied with a shantung "panama" of theirs? I've been wearing a modern Stetson milan during this summer, but I'm looking for something a little lighter than the milan but more durable than an actual panama.
Another couple of options are the Journeyman and the Hitchhiker from Art. http://www.thefedoralounge.com/showthread.php?61250-Introducing-both-quot-Journeyman-quot-and-quot-Hitchhiker-quot
I just got this "custom" ;) milan Stratoliner second hand from Ale. I, of course, unboxed the hat at work... and then had to demonstrate to my dubious coworkers that owning a fur felt Campdraft and a plastic/straw Strat does not mean that I own two copies of the exact same hat. This also led me...
You should keep cedar blocks stored in a small space (like a hat box). The bigger the area they're trying to protect, the less they work. I usually put one in each garment bag in my closet, and a couple in each drawer of my dresser.
Bed, Bath, & Beyond is currently selling cedar blocks, bags of cedar sawdust, and cedar coat hanger rings. If you store your hat with any one of those it will begin to replace the mothball scent with cedar and still repel insects.
First day with my campdraft, and I'm suit shopping.
I'd welcome any suggestions for a hat to wear with the suit once it's back from the tailor. I know the CD doesn't cut it, but it looked nice with the blazer and blue jeans I wore for the rest of the day.
I can't recommend any specific hat, but I can recommend that you don't buy a with a mesh crown. The Tilley hats mentioned here are fine, but a lesser quality hat with large areas of mesh paneling will let you get sunburned despite covering your head.
