I'm on AoM all the time, and can't say enough to support them. I rarely, rarely read anything I don't agree with, at least on some fundamental level, and I would say I read with a very critical eye. I would suspect a lot of the people who've left comments less than supportive about a lot of the...
Thanks for all the great info, gentleman! In general, within the fan a-2 community, do people know which contract a-2 was prevalent amongst certain units, certain theaters of operation, etc.? Or we're they more or less distributed randomly, dependent upon circumstances?
I'm assuming here that...
Oh, I see. I was confusing CXL with Horween chrome tanned. In general, I stay as far away as I can to chrome tanned, much preferring veg-tanned if I can find it.
Thanks much for the reply, Capesofwrath!
Hello gents,
As stated, I am pretty much a newbie when it comes to the world of quality/vintage jackets. I come to TFL by way of Indy gear (primarily a jacket guy there too), but as with many of my Indy compatriots, my interests in various aspects of the golden age roam far and wide (but all...
I've had a black cowhide biker jacket from them for about 4 years now. Really like it, but I only bought it due to the thick heavy hide it's cut from. Holding up quite well so far.
Half of my family is from up a little north of where you are (Fulton, Oswego, etc.). I've spent a lot of time in the Syracuse area. Definitely a town really built up by the Golden era gone awry. Still love it up there though, but that's probably because I live in a relative boomtown (these days...
Honestly, I don't really like most Russian war films. Comparing them to Western war films (at least the recent ones) such as Saving Private Ryan, Thin Red Line, BoB/The Pacific, Russian war movies tend to suffer from the same defects older war films in the West used to - stiff and archaic...
Interesting idea...and I agree with a lot of the comments. The smells, the lack of digital technology etc. One thing that I'm surprised no one (at least that I've seen) has mentioned is segregation. Honestly, aside from the buses, restrooms, and water fountains, I really don't know how this all...
For what it's worth, I'm really enjoying this conversation. I am finding many salient points to ponder. Thank you.
In fact, this conversation reminds me of another facet of yesteryear which seems to be better - the general level of conversation. As with anything else, I am biased as I am...
My prediction: Nucky seeks out Robert's skills to take care of some business in Tabor Heights and NYC. That was such a depressing episode (except for Robert), they really have to pull out all the stops at this point to satisfy me. I want to see Rossetti's head on a plate.
I'm surprised that someone would actively seek out a community such as this (you know, one dedicated to celebrating the glories of the past) just to play the 'my values are so superior' game.
Oh, wait...that sounds intellectually shallow, crass, and highly egotistical. Yep, sounds about right...
I've been lurking around for some time here, but the subject and responses to this post really speak to me. In regards to all of 'us' longing for a self-projected illusion of the past that never existed - I strongly disagree. I am relatively young (24) and thankfully thus far have been...
