I have the same problem with my hair slipping out of the headband, but I do put some bob pins around the headband to keep rogue hair outta the way. I will sleep on it like that, and it doesn't bother me any more than sleeping in pin curls.

Oh, boy. I need to get out and look. I've been so busy that I haven't had time for garage sale hopping. My hair is still holding up and I've been chasing my kindergartener patient around all day! I've gotten a ton of compliments as well. I am extremely pleased.
