I stumbled across your post researching Tin Duck Denim myself. Did you ever make a purchase? Like you, I'm interested in the tan 24oz trucker jacket. I've found exactly one youtube video with the jacket. It was fresh out of the box so not a helpful review.
Apologies for the previous post with the rotated picture. This should hopefully answer any fit questions you may have about a Sz 44" on a fella that normally measures as a 42".
Quick disclaimer: naming my dog after Hanna Reitsch is in no way an endorsement of the racial ideology or political philosophy by the National Socialist German Workers Party.
I will wear collared shirts for aesthetic reasons. This sweater is extremely warm so I will likely pop it off when indoors. It will be nice to have a proper shirt with a collar on beneath it. Also, I've always liked the look of a Guernsey with the traditional "boat" neckline with a collared...
Yes, I will post a picture as soon as I can. I'll try to take some measurements of the garment while I'm at it. For reference, I purchased the Guernsey Woollens in a size 44 in. It is a snug fit (which I like). My chest measures out to be 41 in. and I typically wear a size 42 suit jacket...
I do have an Aran sweater. I actually have two, in fact. The first one I picked up at TJ Maxx (not sure if you have these in the UK--they're a store that sells the overstock from major department stores). The brand name is Mackinnon of Scotland so not a true Aran. When I studied in Ireland...
I thought I'd breathe some life into this historic thread. I just ordered my first Guernsey from Guernsey Woolens with the traditional neckline in navy blue. I've been a fan of the sweater for many years going back to one of my law school professors who hailed from Scotland and was a fisherman...
I've had these same Redwings since 2009. I wore them nearly every day for a year doing yard work, walking the dog, going to the pub. After a year of hard use they still looked practically brand new. I considered this a good thing. I keep 'em oiled and protected with SnoSeal and brush dirt...
aswatland,
Do you know anything about the patch on the no-name Doniger? I've seen that patch before in pics of my grandfather durin WWII. It's in a picture of him at flight school and I'd love to be able to identify it. Thanks for posting amazing pics of a truly superb collection.
Treetopflyer: Thanks for the advice. I ended up using a relatively mild solution of Oxyclean and warm tap water with a nylon bristle brush and it worked moderately well. I'm not going to risk damaging the jacket by using anything harsher than that. More than anything, I just need to Febreeze...
Thanks, adno.thun. I think I'm going to use a Woolite heavy traffice carpet cleaner (very sparingly so as to not damage the skin/leather underneath). I will post pics periodically as the project progresses once The Fedora Lounge gives me the proper credentials.
Hey folks, I'm a long time admirer and first time poster on The Fedora Lounge. I recently saved a beat-up old B-3 from a certain trip to the landfill. Having always wanted one but never being able to afford a new one, let alone, a nice original...I decided to purchase this project B-3. I want to...
