I have a new super fino straw hat. my one and only! ...it has a silk cloth lining inside the crown. Why is this? I love my hats to breathe. I NEED IT! ... I never looked inside! This hat is only a few months old. my first hot season is starting! Can I just tear it out? I need to breathe! -

What to wear in LA right now?
PS -- I have room for both, I guess! Two nice hats -- straw and felt. And a light and a dark jacket. The dark jacket is a brightish navy blue so not somber. The carry-on still isnt too heavy. I don't do spacers. But I did do an all-around padding and fairing-out with paper towel and it worked great to snug up a hat. I folded it and tucked it inside the hatband. And there's it's been for years, making my too big hat just right. So there's that. -

I just got a new-to-me nifty Montecristi Fino panama. It's sweet and the fineness of the weave is pretty to me. ...But it has several "dots" of darker straw. Not whole straws. Just one portion of weave. One. A dot. Of darker straw. 1/32" maybe, or smaller. I'd say there are 4 such dots around... -

Berghoff is still happening. Looks nice. German food. Near there I also suggest Shaw's Crab and the Chicago AC. ...Similar vintage vibes. The AC has a semi-rooftop pub overlooking the Bean and Art Institute area. -

Good guess! Similarly classic place. But I think mine has the edge. It's Musso's in LA. I enjoy the Berghoff in Chi. Solid Deutsch food. Nice premises. I also really like Shaw's Crab and the Chicago AC. All these have the oldworld styling. -
