I really like When A Man Loves (1927) with Dolores Costello and John Barrymore. It has an amazing action packed ending. TCM screened this restored WB-Vitaphone synchronized sound masterpiece last year, complete with its original score.
An early talkie I really appreciate is RKO's Street Girl...

Criterion has just released four wonderful musicals from the "Jazz Age" directed by Ernst Lubitsch:
The Love Parade (1929)
Monte Carlo (1930)
The Smiling Lieutenant (1931)
One Hour With You (1932)
I can personally vouch for these films, they have excellent entertainment...
Hello,
I recently came across a cache of clips from early sound movies. Almost all of the clips showcase the style and fashion of the late 1920's and early 1930's. Many are Art Deco in syle and some use Two-Color Technicolor, a color filming method in use at the time.

Phantom Of THE Opera
I recently saw the 1925 film "Phantom Of The Opera" with Lon Cheney and Mary Philbin. The restored DVD version has color sequences and tinted sequences.
Viewing this film, I marvel at Lon Cheney's ability to become a character. He was truly the man of a thousand faces.
Favorite silents.
I really like "What Price Glory" (1926) with
Edmund Lowe
Victor McLaglen
Dolores del Rio
Fun beginning, great filmography, and use of tints.
It is available here for under four dollars:
