    Mystery G-1 jacket

Thank you, Mr. Finch. I saw a Cagleco online and wondered if I might have one. I believe you are correct. (By the way: I am from North Carolina; lived in New Bern and Morehead City before heading west, then south, then north, and finally back south.)

    Mystery G-1 jacket

Not great photos, I agree. Please note the final shot; look hard and you can discern the smaller USN in a vertical pattern. This stumps me. I prowled about on the Internet and discovered that it is most likely early 1960. Tthe mouton collar, with a lovely reddish tint, is nearly flawless -- is...

    Mystery G-1 jacket

Hi, folks, and, yes, it's been a while since I was in the Lounge. An oversight, surely. Need your help. I got a battered G-1 off eBay for a decent price, and it was everything advertised. The label is missing, so I am not sure what company made it. I do have a few hints: 1. The "USN"...

1949 Chevy pickup truck. Make women smile and men envious. $11,000

This is the 216. I did not about the valve cover difference. I must investigate this. If it is a 235, I ought to ask more for it. The 235 is a superior engine.

You are correct about the engine, a simple little 170. It's not powerful but is sufficient. Re: the transmission: A mere 3 on the column. It would move better with four gears and a different rear end. A 260 under the hood would be nice, too. But I got this car after noticing my wife's reaction...

1949 Chevy pickup truck. Make women smile and men envious. $11,000

The man who’d marry your grandmama had one of these. When he drove it to see her for the first time, your grandmama’s father looked at the machine and scowled. “Farm boy,” he muttered. “Won’t amount to nuthin’.” Well, he was wrong. Granddaddy did all right in life; he turned out to be as tough...

Vintage Car Thread - Discussion and Parts Requests

A couple of machines I picked up after selling a Model A Ford. The '63 Falcon was a gift to my family; the truck, a banged-around '54 Chevy Thriftmaster, was a birthday present to myself.

Sold the Model A The title says it all -- well, no, it doesn't. I owned a '31 coupe for 20 years. I sold it two weeks ago. Then I turned around and bought a '63 Ford Falcon Futura convertible, white/red interior/black ragtop. It is on the West Coast; I live near the East Coast. I am trying to...

    FS: 1930s Model A Fordor

Model A watchin' Hello all, I just stepped in to say I enjoyed reading this. I have a '31 Ford deluxe coupe, green/black fenders/straw wheels, and it's been a fun car. A new (well, 1963) car has caught my eye, though, so the old Ford may go on the block. Anyone near Atlanta interested in a...

    My US Authentic A2 arrives!!

Sizing As US Authentic owners will attest, these jackets run long and lean. I was all set to buy a 42, but Shaul (owner) talked me into a 40. I agreed, with reservations, but he was right. It fits about the same as an old Cooper 44 I owned, but gave to a friend.

US AUTHENTIC GOATSKIN HEAVILY WORN IN---Pics?

US Authentic fit I routinely wear a 42 in most coats, but when I dealt with Shaul, he suggested I order the standard 40 in the US Authentic A-2. I wisely listened to his advice. The jackets are cut slightly long, and mine fits me very well.

    Authentic?

Absurd I might wash the car in some of those duds, provided I did it at night and the neighbors were out of town. On second thought: Naaaa.

Getting my US Authentic A-2-ADVICE ON DETAILS

US Authentic The US Authentic is a tough, hard-wearing jacket. Don't know what size you are, but I have one I am thinking of selling. It's a 40, russet horsehide, and cut (in my opinion) long. Interested? Let me know.

    A2, which of the 5?

Good Wear is the real thing I'll pile on with a brief comment. I decided to get a good A-2 more than two years ago. John Chapman had started producing the GW brand, and what few products he'd made looked good. I called him, we talked, and I decided to get his Aero-style 21996. It arrived four...

    My son's first hat.

Brimming with curiosity My firstborn, who is closing in on 9, likes to wear my hats. He is not particularly gentle with them, so the old man has to watch closely when, for example, he crams a Stylemaster on his head. His kid brother, 6, is just as rough. I've noticed that their classsmates are...

    Costumey?

The brim, the trench I am weighing in on this a little late, but cannot help myself. On my desk is a Stylemaster, dark gray and spattered with December rain. Beside it is a damp Burberry trench. Some colleagues laugh at the combination, but the hat and raincoat work well together in...

    My Cagleco G1

Fixing the jacket I understand that US Authentic does repairs, too. I have a battered old G-1 that I keep meaning to send to repair the cuffs. I wil get around to it, I guess -- unless anyone knows of a place in the Atlanta area that does quality repairs. Anyone?
