as you already know (from the other forum) it's a circa WW2 Australian army slouch hat and it's made from the fur of approximately 11 rabbits. There is no such thing as "officer grade" when it comes to Australian slouch hats... every digger (Aussie soldier) got the same type of slouch hat...
my latest purchase... a 1941 dated 2/1st Independent Company slouch hat. Most of this company was captured on the island of New Ireland by Japanese Marines in 1942.

here's a vintage pic of me, in my vintage t-shirt in one of those ye olde vintage speak-easy bars. OK, I lied. It's a recent pic of me in a new t-shirt in a modern German-style restaurant. The beer is even recent, too. I just figured with this being a vintage style site and all if I lied you...
I hate it when someone is in the same room as you and they are having a text message conversation with someone. That is, they message someone and then they get a reply and then they send off a reply and they get a reply over and over again. I reckon if you get into a text conversation and you...
Funnily enough I disagree with you. Yes, women did work men's jobs but when the men came back from war they felt threatened by women in men's jobs plus men who returned from war wanted their old jobs and they did get them back.
The women were relegated back to servitude as the men put the...
Hi Benny, I have never found anything at a disposal store. Once a mate of mine did find a WW2 dated slouch hat with a leopard skin puggaree (hatband) at a Vinnies shop!
I would really appreciate it if you could keep an eye out for dated and patched WW2 slouchies and tunics for me.
I...

I was told that back in the day you could find them at army surplus...
a very interesting topic. I have heard of this before in a book. A girl, who was the friend of the author, was encouraged by her father to be indoctrined into the lebensborn program. Luckily she never did join it.
However, the concept of creating a race free of genetic defects was not limited...
thanks for the replies, fellas.
Dr.Greg, that is indeed an officers shirt. It was made in Victoria for use by either an Australian or an American officer.

I also just wanted to say hello. My name is Chris and i'm from Australia. I love old hats, especially Australian army slouch hats. I have a nice little collection of them but I hope to keep it growing.
Anyway I hope to get to know all of you over time.

I have to lie on my left hand side to get to sleep. Whilst I am asleep I move around and most of the time wake up on my back. I can basically sleep anywhere if I have to.
Oddly, I also sleep with my mouth open. I close my mouth but it feels like I am suffocating even though I am breathing...
