    Toiletries of the Golden Era

I've recently gone full vintage in skin care. This was not on purpose so much as it was by accident. I had been really neglecting my skin because of a crazy work schedule and it got so dry that it was peeling off and yet it was broken out at the same time. After a week of vintage care it is so...

    Toiletries of the Golden Era

Right now, I use: *Coty Airspun Powder which is my all time favorite. I love the new packaging too. *Tabu cologne by Dana. As I understand it the formula has changed, so its not strictly vintage. I wear this usually when it is cold outside because it is such a warm, strong scent. I love it, but...

    Cold Cream- Brands and advice!

I'm reviving this old thread to ask if anyone else has tried making their own cold cream. I did it on a whim and I absolutely love it, more than the Jergens which this thread inspired me to try and which I used for over two years. This works for me as a makeup remover and a night time...

What makeup are you wearing today?

Today, and lately everyday, it's Olay BB Crème in Fair to Light (still deciding if I like it) Revlon Color Stay Foundation in Ivory (as concealer) ELF All Over Stick in Pink Lemonade (as crème blush and eye shadow) Coty Air Spun Powder in Muted Beige (I'm addicted to this stuff) Fran Wilson...

What Was The Last Movie You Watched?

I just watched Populaire, a French, romantic comedy set in 1958. The costumes and sets were beautiful and for a vintage loving crowd like this almost worth watching for on their own. The story was only so-so. Cute sometimes, labored at others.

do you wash your hair everyday?

Has anyone tried using bar shampoo? I bought a bar on an impulse, then read about 30 pages over several days of the long hair forum's thread about it. It seemed that one had to use a vinegar rinse after using and that conditioner would serve only to gum up the works. Since I have very dry...

    Curly hair woes.

My hair is a bit kinkier than yours, but it's extremely long, so I'm not sure I can be a huge help. I never blow dry or flat iron. I can't do pin curls because at my length and thickness, they take over 48 hrs to dry (I know this because I tried it one weekend). I wear an updo pretty much every...

What's something modern you won't miss when it becomes obsolete?

The phrase own it as used in the sentence, "I know that I'm selfish, shallow, and vain, but at least I own it." Hmm... that does not make it any better. Sorry.

What's something modern you won't miss when it becomes obsolete?

Do you think these people have ever spoken to a lady who was over the age of 16 before 1965?

Vintage Things That Have Disappeared In Your Lifetime?

I don't know what you would call the math they teach now, but I can tell you that I am only 22 years old and when I was learning long division, my class had the lowest grades in the district, though the average itself was very poor. Frustrated, the teacher went to the local library, found a work...

    What powder, foundation..

I am crazy about Maybelline's Fit Me Shine Free Foundation Stick right now. I keep bragging about it to all my friends, but the thought of a stick foundation puts them off. It gives a sheer, but even coverage which is perfect for my day to day life. I still need a little concealer under my eyes...

    Best Mascara (for vintage looks)?

My mom just bought L'Oreal Million Lashes (the one in the gold tube with the fiber extensions). I used it once and fell in love with it, but I'm holding off on buying it until I finish my Great Lash. It gives massive lashes and thus converted me from a hardcore black mascara fan to actually...

    Hello and thick hair despair

I have another question regarding thick hair, but I didn't want to start a new thread, so here it goes: I really want a set of side combs that will hold up either side of my hair if it is parted down the middle and right behind the ears. However, I've tried all of the ones available in...

    Pale or Tan?

I'd like to get a light tan this summer. I like the way it looks and being a Californian 20-something means that I put up with pale jokes all year around. I'm a red head and I don't tan easily, but I do tan well eventually and I don't freckle, so why not?

    Show us what you've made!

Yes, Vintage Tink, but I guess it's not enough. The problem may have been the size she started with too because by bust measurement I'm a 16 and by waist I'm an 8, so she started with a 14 and tried adjusting from there. Does that sound right at all?

    Show us what you've made!

Hope I'm not too off topic here, but while we're talking about sewing, I was hoping you ladies might be able to help me. My grandma really wants to make me a dress. She's an excellent seamstress. She used to make all of her own clothes and all of her husband's suits because he was 6'9" and could...
