G&B offered about 14 different cloth flight/military jackets in my 2003 catalog. Now they're down to 6 on the website. They seem to be afraid of doing custom work these days too in that they still offer the WEP jacket in satin but they will not make me one out of their Mountain Cloth material...
I'm thinking of ordering a WEP jacket from Gibson & Barnes. I'll probably go with the "mountain cloth" since I don't care much for the shiny satin material. This will be a cool weather or "spring jacket", so I'm wondering if it is worth getting the Thinsulate lining.
Any thoughts on these...
I've been wearing my new JL jacket in the 4.25oz black over brown CXL for a couple of months now. The only places I can spot brown are in high abrasion areas such as a small spot on the elbow and inside, near my belt line.
Is it possible that your leather is too dry? If I saw the top black...
Lol, you're the one who got me into this mess. Just kidding, mine is finally starting to break in and is perfect for the winters here. Anything over 50 deg F though and this jacket would be too warm. The CXL overdye is heavy but I've gotten used to it and it blocks the wind very well. Keep...
I waited 2 years to get an Aero and finally just gave up on them. The first incident involved Mark Moye. After a couple headaches I did get my money back from citibank over a year after being charged (always use credit cards!). I then placed an order with Aero directly and went back and forth...
These pants caught my eye while looking at Red Wing boots. At $18, I assume they're imported though. Does anyone own a pair who can comment on sizing? They kind of remind of the pants I used to wear in the late '80s.
That is cool. I've noticed that very few companies make these types of wallets in the USA any more.
I bought my first chain wallet (smaller size) in 1993 and had to replace it in 2011 because it was falling apart. Every wallet I saw in the Harley stores were made in China:eek:
I ended up...
I just wanted to point out that Bemidji has the Jac coat in two different weights with different colors. A 28 oz. virgin wool and a 30 oz. mix.
28 oz coats
30 oz coats
It is a coat that's cut more conservatively than a macinaw. I wear it over a T-shirt or a T-shirt & button down...
I thought the Stormy Kromer macinaw was a nice coat but I didn't care for the fit, too lose. It's made for the woods and is not something I'd wear on the street so I returned it.
I then bought a Bemidji Voyageurs Jac Coat in the grey plaid (Adirondack plaid) which I kept and wore all last...
I will put up some more pics this weekend. Also, this thread could do without all the personal opinions on carrying firearms.
It's initially tanned a dark brown and then finished in black. The back side (suede portion) of the leather is brown. If you scratch the finished side with a sharp...
Right. I call it a pistol pocket because that's what it's for. The lining of the pocket is made of leather and shaped for a small/medium frame revolver. Of course, it's not a bad idea to keep the piece in a holster inside the pocket. When I think of a map pocket, I think of a traditional...
After trying to get a jacket for over 2 years from our friends in Scotland I gave up and decided to go with an American company, Johnson Leathers. Initially I was going to order an M200-L and had Alan send me a test fit jacket to try on and photograph for him. That was until I saw Technovox's...
I'd go G&B all the way.
As a kid where I lived, Schott jackets were only sold in Army/Navy stores and they were the best commercially available leather jackets that I knew of. Nowadays, Schott seems to be going after the trendy designer/hipster market and their prices reflect that. Times...
I've had their A-2 now for 13 years (Flightsuits back then) and it's a tough jacket. The goat only shows wear around the protruding edges so it does not show age like I expect cowhide to. I ordered it with a thinsulate liner and it definitely is not a tight fitting jacket like the others have...
I'm planning on ordering a Johnson Leathers jacket but I want a heavy nickle (or Aluminum?) zipper with large slider tab, similar to the YKK's Schott uses here.
Can anyone tell what # size the zipper is on the above Schott and also explain how the zipper tooth sizing system works?
