Good tailors?
I think good tailors are hard to find. They seem to be a dieing breed, with Hong Kong "tailors" selling second rate suits and premium prices (whatever their adverts say).
The best tailor I've found is Vincents at Marlborough - not "that" far from Reading and really worth trying...
I've been to a lot of weddings in the UK over the years and almost invariably the ceremony has far fewer people than the reception. High Church services are really nice, but I suspect meaningless for most Brits.
I wonder if, rather than a fear of catching a religion, it’s actually the...
I love pets, especially cats! After my lovely Burmese died I spent a few pet-less years. I hated being without a cat but, being both divorced and working long hours away from home, I felt it wasn't fair to buy a replacement.

Well OK. A friend who keeps garter...
I agree the world is louder (and coarser) than perhaps it one day was.
On our intercity trains they set aside two carriages (one in First Class and one in Standard Class) as "Quiet" carriages. An announcement is made requesting people refrain from using "mobile phones and personal stereo...
Welcome indeed... I have found the Lounge to be the most welcoming and friendly of communities and love my time here. OK I don't post as often as I would like but I keep dropping in and reading! I wish you a long and happy association with us!
I read in The Times a really interesting article about the organic vegetables being no better than the normal ones in any measurable way. I'm totally up for concern over animal welfare and free-range works for me. Not buying into organic veggies though :)
Great movie and wonderful suit. I'm always struck by the suits (and dresses) in 1930's movies. It seems to have been a much better dressed (and colder) time!
I think we all like to focus on the good in people and its too easy to forget the bad things in our history. Lets hope that one day people are better and wars are a thing of a past that can be forgotten.
Welcome to the friendliest boards around! You have an excellent look - I totally admire your ability to create like that! i hope you have a long and happy time with us at the Fedora Lounge :)
Happy memories - the seventies lacked style with such a grim enthusiasm that it must have been one of the most classic free decades ever.
Oh but then I had long hair in the 1970's. I wasn't immune to the time either!
My leather owes more to the 1940's as an A2 replica.
How about Warner Oland in Charlie Chan at the Circus - wonderful incidentals like the costumes and the "gorilla". I think its amazing that the studio rolled out four Charlie Chan movies in 1936 when they produced "at the Circus".
I'm a Gemini and thought when I was young that it was a terrible match. I was painfully shy and Gemini are notoriously outgoing and communicative. I work in training now and find that the star sign suits me to a tee! It seems I have grown into it over the decades!
So hard to pick only one but if pushed my one and only favourite would be "School for Scoundrels" staring the ever elegant Ian Carmichael, Terry Thomas and the wonderful Alastair Sim.
I have a rather nice leather covered pocket notebook which I bought solely on the feel of the leather. I didn't even think if it would be used but I find i use it daily. When it was nearly full I was frantic to find another one and went back to the shop and the nice lady told me that you can...
