Thanks for the nod, HD, handymike, Jeff, theundeadkennedy.
Great looking jacket(and lid)...and good eye, Jeff!;) I only wish Mark could source more of this terrific American horsehide.
Mark designed these collars to be easily worn turned-up if desired, as was commonly done...
It bears keeping in mind that there is no single, iconic "Cossack" jacket design. All manner of collar styles, lengths, tailoring, and materials were seen, in a variety of different applications.
See Spencer's excellent treatise on the evolution of leather jackets in the 1920s, and his...
Mark Fisher-NorShor Cossack Prototype
For additional reference, Mark's prototype 'Cossack', in mid-weight American horsehide. Close-fitting design with a beautifully executed shawl collar. Extremely labor intensive but wonderfully detailed buttonholes.
Impossible for me to follow the rationale, Rusty, or NOT to feel singled out. You felt that my photos from today were more appropriate to be placed in the FEDORAS AFIELD thread so said thread was eliminated such that all similar posts can be 'consolidated' in WHAYWT?
I greatly respect your...
Eliminating FEDORAS AFIELD as a stand-alone thread and incorporating it with the 6,000+ page WHAYWT thread in effect destroys its content. I cannot see or agree with how this would enhance the quality of the HATS Forum.
Thank you, Perry. An unusual but no less glorious Summer it has been!
Thanks for your kind words, and a belated welcome! Lydia and I spent three wonderful years at the other end of the Mississippi, in New Orleans and the Mississippi Gulf Coast, so I know just how pleasant August weather can...

Great to see you giving your beautiful Panamas so much noggin time this Summer. Thank you for the kind notes today. I will continue to wear my straws daily until temps dip consistently into the upper fifties, which I hope...
Waning Days Of Summer
We love the distinct changes of season in Minnesota, but it also means that at most, I only have the few short but glorious months of June, July and August to wear my favorite straw hats.
