Hello, everyone. I should still like to sell this hat to a fellow Lounger. I realize one probably wouldn't wear it until Fall, but it is a good time to prepare!
New price: $150 shipped (extra for Canada or overseas, please).
Please P.M. if interested.
Hello, gentlemen! I am a frequent follower, but sadly seldom a poster on F.L.
I recently acquired this hat, but I have found the long oval not quite to suit me. The hat is in excellent, almost mint condition; the box is in very good condition, but with one tear, as shown below.
Brim: 2"...
Both of these hats, listed on eBay, are a capacious 7 1/4 size. There is a little wear on the rear of the chocolate-colored Champ, but they are otherwise in very good condition. The Dynafelt appears unused.
I have listed a Stetson 'Nostalgia' on eBay, $39. It's in very good shape, and, as a discontinued hat, I hope you will find it interesting.
Also, it was sold as a 7 1/4", and that is what the box shows, but my own measurements put it closer to a 57 cm.
Shellacking
I am sure this question has been asked already, but I am afraid that twenty minutes' searching has not turned up the thread with the answer.
How does one re-shellac his hat? Is it possible to do that simply with clear spray shellac meant for varnishing wood? Or is there some...
Recently I acquired a 7 1/8" Stetson Nostalgia, which they discontinued in March. I bought it immediately after I learned of its discontinuation, and therefore had little choice in what I was getting.
I had been hoping for a thicker ribbon, which was on the older models, but the one I got has...
All right, unless I missed your starting offer, I would give $60 for it.
If you don't mind, too, what would be the brim and crown sizes in inches, please?
Would you be open to a trade, or are you just selling? I have a used light-gray Stetson fedora if you're interested. I can post or send you pics. Let me know.
As I have been considering buying the Stetson Nostalgia from TheFedoraStore.com for some time now, I have been checking the site almost every day. It seems that, as of very recently, the open-crown Stetson Nostalgia is no longer listed. Does any body know whether it were discontinued? Or whether...
Indeed, the homburg did begin as a relatively casual hat. But, of course, it's a platitude that every generation's idea of 'formal' tends to the last generation's casual: there is much overlap betwix 'old fashion' and 'formal'. Of course, one interesting tid-bit about the homburg is that it's...
Then I really don't know what to say. It's a homburg, and it's very stiff, and it's black.
Additionally, as they came about before fedoras, homburgs are generally associated with the darker clothing of the Nineteenth century, and due to their weight they are somewhat more of a Winter hat. Not...
To wear a homburg properly, one must begin of course with a proper homburg. A proper homburg, naturally, should be as stiff as a Puritan's moral code and equally dark, if not to say 'clean'.
It is a tragic sight, then, when a homburg once proud and rigid, becomes lightly stained and begins...
Thank you for all the information. And I should say, too, that Mr. Wolfwood's hat as he wears it in his picture appears to me the apotheosis of fedora style.
As far as hat blocks, go, though, is that some thing that most of you possess? How necessary are they for fedoras, and are they any more...
Another member mentioned that the Nostalgia, at least during its production a decade ago, had rather thin, stretched felt at the top which was given easily to shrink (this from the thread specifically about the Nostalgia).
To be clear, then, bashing does not involve any steaming which may...
