Papa M.. That is one really nice looking jacket (cut and style) And although impossible to tell without a before photo, the wash seems to have worked a treat!!! I like that jacket a LOT, very cool!!! The colour fade on the yoke just ads loads of character in my opinion. Great stuff!! Frussell...

ButteMT61, I wouldn't hang a jacket on a radiator ever. However bouncing around in a dryer with little or no heat with lots of air worked well for me. Papa M, your last post seems a little more upbeat than your previous lol. I really look forward to hearing how it goes! Good luck

My brand new shiny HH jacket via washer and dryer

Papa M, I'm no expert, just going on what I did. I wouldn't be putting Pecards on a wet jacket, seems like a waste of time. But also try the dryer on low or no heat. If using low heat take it out every 10 min and check on it. A test I did was fold a piece of leather and squeeze hard to see the...

Ha ha, very funny Lear, yes it was quite a bold move. I gave my jacket a little soak in the shower a couple of days ago and wore it out with a pretty heavy jumper and boy oh boy it stretched across the back quite a bit! Thanks Peacoat, I hear what you say about the products being pretty much the...

My brand new shiny HH jacket via washer and dryer

Thanks Atomic. I agree with Cptn Cman and Peacoat's summary on the topic, prolonged wetting and drying. Thanks for bringing the point up, as I wouldn't want to be sliding down the road and have my jacket fall apart due to basic neglect. Talbot, I looked at the MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet)...

My brand new shiny HH jacket via washer and dryer

Atomic, the only reason I've got this new jacket is for on my bike, well come to think of it I like it so much I'll be wearing it off the bike to I think. But with most leather bike jackets they are going to get wet quite a bit yeah? Even if you dont like to ride in the rain you still get caught...

My brand new shiny HH jacket via washer and dryer

Thanks all for the feedback, much appreciated. Peacoat, I've been looking at different saddle soaps, oils or dressings. We used to boil up a 5 gal drum of cattle fat at the start of the mustering/herding(?) season and dip all our leather branding ropes, horse breaking gear and hobbles in it...

And some after shots. All I wanted to do was soften the jacket so it would sit right whilst on my bike and not sit up around my neck as I have high bars. I tried a pair of runners in the dryer, and that worked some, then I read on here about using a washing machine and thought what the hell...

Well well, I feel very clever, thank you Dav! Here is a before shot, with cuff's and hem. I'll see how the light is for the after shot, as its night and I dont really have very bright lights.

My brand new shiny HH jacket via washer and dryer

Thank you Chi-Town, It wasn't just what I've read but also how I've seen jackets and boots go with drying faster than the natural way, with a little mild heat they seem to shrink a little then go back to size after some persuading. However I've seen thick leather brand tags on jeans go like your...

My brand new shiny HH jacket via washer and dryer

Hi Angry, its my understanding that any shrinking that has occurred wont be permanent, as it will stretch out where needed again. The experience is with coats and boots getting very wet then drying out too quickly around fires or gas/wood cast iron stoves. The next morning you pull boots on they...

My brand new shiny HH jacket via washer and dryer

Hey all, first time posting on this wonderful site. I thought some might be interested in my new jacket and what I did. First off, I've owned 3 leather jackets. My first was when I was 18 as I started work as a ranch hand/cowboy, still got it. Second one was when I was 23, it was already very...
