Just A2's:
ELC house size 46 from 1988 (shot, and just lying around, gathering dust)
ELC house size 44 with "Better Duck" jacket art, dating from 1990 (still fine)
ELC RW 1401P size 46r usset with very smooth hide
ELC Werber size 46, russet, but more caramel, "War Horse hide"
ELC Star...
OK guys,
Tonight I gave the green light for a great undertaking, celebrating (albeit a bit early) my 50th birthday coming October 17.
I will order a ELC size 46 Star Sportswear and collect it in July, than have it fitted with a 751st BS, 457th BG Squadron Patch made by Robin Mott, then, on...
Great jacket, love the outfit, anybody ever tell you that, at least on this photograph you look a bit like David Niven in his better days? (at least with this hat on..):)

Since we have quite a few members at FL who are also members at the VLJ forum a question for my fellow VLJ friends: what's the matter with the forum?
Last week for a couple of days the forum was offline with a rather standard (seen it before) faultmessage.
Then, after a couple of days, the...
Mine is number 780 and looks like the twin of yours - exept I have made more work of "wheathering" the jacket, especially the pockets. I keep my wallet in the right, and my keychain in the left all the time, and I have wrung them quite a few times, especially when wet (just from rain though, not...
Hi there, and also welcome all the way from Holland: an ocean away for man, but a button's touch for forummembers ...
As to care of your A2: not to much please; just wear 'm don't baby them. The hide can take the water, will dry without problems if you let it dry naturally, i.e. at room...
In this age of healthy living, why not get your girth back in shape and stick to your original size? You will benefit in may ways. On VLJ there's a thread discussing a suggestion by a forummember to reward yourself by setting a goal of losing so many kilo's / pounds and rewarding yourself with a...
The Memphis Belle movie is not known for its accuracy as far as flying jackets are concerned. The sheepskin jackets only superficially resemble original B3, the A2's have a modern, "roomy" cut, no throathook, the squadron patches are on the right chest, instead of on the left, underneath the...
Hi there, shanghai jack,
I took a look at you ELC B3, which is great, but I couldn't help but notice your ELC Star A2 as well. What happened to it or what did you do to it, to get it so "wheathered"? When you buy a new one, they are an even very dark seal brown.
I'd already love to have an ELC...
I have an ELC G1 that I have worn hard for about 15 years and there has been no or no noticible fading of the mouton collar. I have ridden many miles on my motorbike on it, so it has exensively been exposed to the elements.
Like the others I say: choose the colour you like to begin with, and...
So, from the replies above you can deduct, my dear Watson, two things; their jackets quality is good / exellent, the authenticity of their jackets less so (whatever their claims). I can attest to both.
So, it is up to you what is more important to you...
What, by the way, is a longcoat? Does...
Bienvenue Pharmotard
Hello Pharmotard,
Welcome to the forum from Les Pays Bas, Holland that is for al you English speakers.
I have the ELC RW 1401 P in size 46 and am very happy with this jacket.
On the Vintage Leather jacket forum in one of the threads there is just a discussion going on...
Hi Grant,
Can you tell me why you would rather take the D1 or the B10 than the B6?
I am curious, as I am considering a B6 as well.
Someone asked me what I preferred: a B3 or a Irvin. I have both (ELC's) and, to my own surprise, I wear the B3 all the time in fall and winter, as it sits better...
Hi Dex,
Beautiful jacket! Sleeping in it is an idea! My wife already raises her eyebrows when I wear my ELC RW 1401P inside on a chilly evening. Got to see her when she finds me in bed in my jacket!!:)
You certainly took the plunge giving your jacket, just flown in from the other side of...
Hi Marv,
I think Peckards is the answer, as it is recommended stuff by most jacket owners and lovers on the VLJ forum - and you can order it from the UK -I did and received a pot of the stuff in about a week after ordering.
Sorry I have no link for you, but Google should be able to help!:)...
I visited Aviation Leathercraft in 1987 and decided they were not in business for making as exact a replica A2 or Irvin as I liked. I found this out, when I tried on one of their A2's which I liked just fine (I didn't know too much about A2's back then). This jacket had a mustard cotton lining...
So true! It is amazing how uniformative and, if I may say so, amateurish their site is. Of course one can say, they put their energy where it should be, i.e. in making perfect replica jackets. But a slightly more professional approach to this modern communication device would certainly benefit...
