Hi ladies, I've been absent for a while due to health problems. Have just re opened my etsy shop, got a pile of sewing unfinished but hoping to get on with it soon. I re use old embroidered linen, the bits that have been damaged in some way and I can't bear to see go to waste. Also the tray...
This sort of thing is one of my Great Hates! It's tasteless on various levels. I am sooo sick of seeing above the knee dresses all the time too. Sometimes it works but it frequently doesn't. Besides, even if you have fabulous legs you don't want to be in a mini length all the time. All I ever...
People who ruin old clothes, chopping them up and this obsession with everything being mini length, even with horrendous legs...and mine would frighten the horses, so I've never, ever gone there!
I mean proper vintage/antique garments, even trashing old/valuable furniture and with absolutely no...

I made these recently, I use a lot of old linen, cutting the good bits out of damaged items. It's a tribute to the women who made it, all those hours of work, only to lie abandoned today, seems such a shame. I find the tray cloths especially good to use, nobody uses them today...
Something sort of 30's. I just stumbled on them by accident and saw that one of the pictures they use is of Bertie Wooster, from The Fry and Laurie series, it's the three piece style he was looking for. I will need to have a look for UK sites now, thanks.
Thanks, I'll have a search about and see if I can find anything. The trouble is, we live in the absolute back of beyond and there are no tailors and it's not a place anyone would come, too far away to go and have fittings at the places they do come to. Very frustrating!
Just wondering if anyone can help me. Do any of you know anything about this company or have you used them?

If so, would you recommend them? My husband would like a period style suit but we live too far away from any tailor. I found this web site and I see...
Hello.
I know what you mean, I have always felt about a hundred years out of date!
I'm interested in history and costume in general but the very late Victorian/ Edwardian era and up to WW1 really draws me for whatever reason. I tend to take a wander into others clotheswise depending on my...
Typical.
The media do this all the time, things are edited to look the way the makers want them to look. It's standard. My husband teaches English and he's always telling the kids this.
My friend and her family were recently done over by their local TV news station, there was a community...
Fabulous
I do like that frock, very vintage and glam.
I haven't got a picture of my latest find but I have bought a sweet handbag and gloves set from e bay. Was really surprised that nobody bid against me. Bag is black satin with embroidered roses and black leather gloves with same. From...
I had a shop too but I never sold anything, I'm not sure if I ought to try again or not. I'm not very good at self promotion and hopeless with computers etc, a total Luddite in fact!
I've sewn since I was a child and I make a lot of throws, cushion covers, dolls etc, out of recycled vintage...
As someone who is very passionate about history, the ignorance shown sometimes, about dates, eras, etc, makes me want to growl. I would say, from what I have read here, that people seem less prejudiced about it in the US than the Uk. A lot of women, who dress vintage, get some extremely nasty...
Hello
I just joined the other day, found out about this while looking for something else and thought it looked fun.
What lovely photos ladies, you look very glamorous.
I am obsessed with vintage clothes and old things in general! I like to take a trawl through the decades, stopping as and...
