My latest hat project!
So I found this severely moth eaten 4X Cowboy Hat on eBay for $30. No small wonder as some of the moth nibbles go clean through. Most would overlook this hat right there. Not me. I like a hat with a story. This is made by Renegade Hat Co. out of Texas. Never heard of...
My New Hat Project... (X - Posted from my Facebook)
I found a vintage, mint condition Resistol Stagecoach on eBay in my size for $50! Still in the box! These hats are highly coveted in the Hat Conversion community for turning into classic fedoras. (Don't worry, kids. I kept that little...
This is a conversion of an old Resistol Roundup I found on eBay for $20. It had the nice tan/taupe color and some character on it already that I was looking for. I also needed a nice, thick felt for use at work. I work in a Lumber Dept. at Lowe's and so my lid needs to be a bit tougher than...
Yessir and Thank you! It was an old Round Up with a very wide brim and the crown is almost 6" tall. I like tall, non tapered crowns. I simply trimmed and sanded the brim down to 3" and put a nice Diamond crease in the crown.
My Daily Beater working in the 'ol Lumber Yard...A Resistol Conversion I did myself. I needed a thicker felt to take the abuse I give it at work. This does just fine.
Nice one, James! I wear my lid rudely indoors as well. Especially in my studio. Can't "think" without it. Thinking cap....heh

Well, feel free to post pics of what you plan to do! If anybody has got an ink project in the wings and it is on paper, please don't hesitate to show those as well! Thanks y'all!
All you Loungers with Fed or Flat Cap tats, let's see 'em! This is a silhouette of my Grampa leaning against a lamp post in Eureka, CA on my upper left arm. He was the best woodsman I ever knew and never, ever, ever without his lid. You taught me well Gramps!!
