America will always owe him a debt of gratitude for giving us an image of hope at a time when we needed it most.
He will live on forever in that photo.
Routine, Routine, Routine. Seriously, if you do a little bit of cleaning on a regular basis, it will mean less major cleaning projects in the long run. I have daily, weekly and monthly schedules. I know that sounds a little over the top, but it is the only way for me to stay on top of it...
ArrowCollarMan,
Call me simplistic, naive, or hopelessly romantic, but I think you will find that it doesn't have to be so complicated. When the "right" one comes along, you will be surprised by how natural and easy a relationship can be. Everything will fall into place, and it will all...
To Help Save on Gas
http://www.gasbuddy.com/
Gives you a breakdown of gas prices in your area, so you can shop around before you go. Nothing worse than filling up and then driving by a station where it's about five cents per gallon cheaper! Hey, when it's this expensive, every little bit...
Matt,
Well, I have to say that from what I've seen the Marine Corps is still pretty darn stingy about awarding ribbons. I did notice at our last Marine Corps Ball that there were a lot of young enlisted Marines walking around with more medals and ribbons that you would expect, but I think in...
Great points Feraud.
Sure, I know that the original Yankee Stadium is old, but don't tell me that with all the smart architects, engineers, and contractors out there that they couldn't find a way to update it without tearing the whole thing down and building new!
I have increasingly noticed "homemaker" or "housewife" missing from the options when you have to check off your occupation on forms. I typically find myself having to check "Other", although I will frequently write in "Homemaker" next to the "Other" box. ;)

CH,
Darn, that is a bummer. I was wondering if it might just be my local PBS station showing it for right now. It looks like it might be available for purchase but only as a VHS? But when searching, I found that it was coming up on a lot of library sites, so might be worth seeing if it's...
Did anyone check out "America in the '40s" on PBS tonight? It was the first in a three part series. It looks like they will be replaying it, especially over this weekend, and part 2 will run next Wednesday at 8 p.m. (ET.) At least, that is all according to my local schedule, but I know...
Dan,
Oh my goodness, I could just kiss you! So excited to hear that Fort Apache is coming out on DVD. We have had to keep a VCR in the house for the sole reason that Hubby has to watch Fort Apache every couple of months.
Thanks for the heads up...also where can I pre-order it from?
Jessica
Anybody have any thoughts on the new Yankee Stadium to open in 2009? http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060817/ap_on_sp_ba_ne/bba_new_yankee_stadium_5
It is so sad to me that this wonderful place with so much history (particularly Golden Era history) will be lost. I guess nothing ever stays the...
Some great suggestions so far. Lizzie, I really enjoyed yours in particular.
I guess the main thing is that we try to live as simply as possible. Try not to get caught up in keeping up with the Joneses.
We buy used, practical cars. I buy a lot of my son's clothes on e-bay or swap with...
And also about the Forever 21 line, be careful about your laundering. I notice that most of their pieces require a handwash. I am starting to think that has less to do with the fabric, and more to do with the fairly poor quality. Hubby accidentally threw one of my new "Handwash Only" Forever...
Dixon,
Wow, fantastic photos! Thank you so much for posting! I am going to include them as part of my notes!
And FortWorthGal, I would love to get to meet you and show you around!!
Jessica
Dixon,
Thanks for the info on your uncle--I will have to try to track down that book.
Ah yes, the 'George' Medal. Our instructors have brought it up several times. I am guessing that we will have one in the museum, since they covered it in our notes. I'll have to double check on that...
Daisy,
I forgot to mention that I agree with the points that you are making. It bothers me when people complain but don't offer much in the way of solution. It strikes me that a lot of the same people who express outrage at some of the measures we take to prevent another terrorist attack...
