Thanks, Everyone. It was a fun shoot; a nice change of pace from the typical family-style pictures. Lolita has a great eye for setting up those classic poses. Honestly, why don't photographers today take more upside down shots? They are so classic and seductive. After all the initial...
I've been away from the Lounge for a while...chores in the barnyard keep growing as our livestock becomes more varied ('shepherdess' is not an adequate job description any more), two kids in school, hours at the sewing machine, time setting my hair...you know how Life goes. But a few months...
I was scrolling down the page really fast and just as this (gorgeous) photo rolled past, the next thing I read was your signature, "Afterall, Tomorrow is another day." Perfectly to point!
Ditto on the hokey accents. I think they were trying a little too hard to play the stereotype. But the ladies' hair was amazing even though Kate never had hers up. And I cried when they torched the car in the end. But it was all great fun!
I apologize in advance because this isn't the typical post on this thread, but I thought you all would be the most likely to appreciate it. :) I embroidered a peek-a-boo pin-up towel inspired by one from the 1950s. More here on my blog...
While this apron will not win awards for complexity, it scores high in the Make Do and Mend category. It's a re-purposed tablecloth. :)

CarolineH - I think you're right - great potential on such a classic, easy to wear shape. And after you've make 37 of them, it may actually be the one hour dress! lol
This is very true, but for me, I love the total package. Last laundry day I was down to my only pair of undies - Hanes hiphuggers that were crammed in the back of the drawer. I was pulling them up all day! I'm resolved to the fact that I'll be the little old Grandma in the outdated house...
How fun to see some holiday dresses! Unfortunately, I haven't made it out of the kitchen yet. :p Here's a taffeta apron I did up for this month's apron challenge. More details on my blog http://willowhomestead.blogspot.com/2011/12/apron-challenge-december.html
Lorelai99 and AdrianLvsRocky - so fun! You both look great! Even if you don't think you are a pin-up, you've got the playful spirit and that's what's important!
Thanks hailey and kamikat. I tend to sew wide waistbands more often than narrower ones. They act like a waist cincher (covering my stretch marks so I can wear cropped tops) and don't tend to "cut in" as the day wears on. Nothing worse than having to open the button on skirt after dinner! lol
