I had a Vanson model E and a Schott 618 when I ordered my current riding jacket from Johnson leather. The Vanson was around 26" back length and the Schott was 25". I love the Schott and gave away the Vanson. The Vanson covered the top of my jeans when riding perfectly with room to spare. My only...
I never sealed a naked leather, but I did own a naked leather vest. Black naked leather will turn gray from the UV rays. And naked leather is like a sponge in the rain. So sealing your 118 might make it stay black longer and help "repel" some lighter rain.
I can see why. lol. That is a stunning Vanson. I havent seen a c2 in hh before. I love the shine. Any idea on the weight of the leather? 3.5oz? Wish they would offer HH as an option.
So true. Many years of experience and knowledge between these gentlemen. I think the jacket looks good on you.
I have a size 46 and 44 perfecto. The 44 fits spot on but takes a few seconds to take off because of my bad shoulders. The 46 is a size too big. I wore the size 46 all winter, lol. I...
Nothing like the first ride of the year. Wore the JL in honor of the late jacket master, Mr. Johnson. It's really sad when we lose an artisan in the jacket world. It just seems like there are less up and comers to replace the true masters.
Johnson Leathers truly makes a great motorcycle...
Thanks for the great write up and being such a good sport about it. Cool looking jacket, but built with a purpose in mind. You would be the talk of the town if you wore that to the local farm market. lol.
I did a LITTLE and I stress little digging last night on TRD. As with most other jacket makers, their website it worthless (even worse than JL's). I checked their social media accounts, and it looks like nothing has been updated in a year or so. Then I read some local reviews, someone gave them...
Thanks for the info Guppy. I totally messed up photos post. lol. I got too excited when I seen TRD. LOL.
Glad to hear they are still going. I havent been that way in quite some time. Sometimes I wonder if they would do a custom job with some nice leather. Maybe someday.
Thanks for posting those pics Will. Great looking jacket. They did a great job with your inside pocket. I am also on team inside pocket. I hope to send my 618 out to get an inside pocket added, maybe two. That is my main gripe with my Schott. The one they supply is kinda useless. lol.
Sorry about that photo2u. I apologize sir. I misread/misunderstood your post. I get a kick out of seeing my local leather shop on a worldwide leather jacket forum. LOL. I got overly excited. lol.
On a side note, I hope TRD is still in business. I haven't been by their shop in quite some time.
I would HIGHLY doubt TRD leather is affiliated with Kerr/WD/Natel leather in any way. TRD is a small leather shop in Cleveland Ohio. @Guppy would know way more about this subject. I believe he is familiar with all those makers and was doing research on them.
Not sure what makes this pair "supreme", but you can find brand new ones cheaper on Vansons website. I have a few pairs (my rottweiler chewed a pair up, lol). They tend to run on the smaller side. Might want to go up a size.
I am very "green" in selvedge denim. I went with Bravestar 21oz for my first pair. I would say Bravestar is a good beginner pair of jeans around $100-120. They have various fits and weights. I have bigger thighs and went with the straight leg. They are a little roomy. Miiiiiiggghhht be big...
Lol. I started with a 48 horsehide. Lost some weight and got a 46 horsehide. Lost some more weight and bought a 44 steerhide. I gave the 48 to my dad, I hope I never "grow" back into a 48 again. I am keeping the 46, "just in case".
I used to work out, injured my shoulders and had to quit...
