The Cockpit makes a great A-2 go to jacket IMO.....having spent a lifetime collecting originals and repops..of the few A-2s still in my closet...my go to is a off the rack, from the store in NY A-2 from The Cockpit, seal brown goatskin, fits great and has been all over the world, in an aviation...
several had thought maybe a mine field flag...but usually the colors are not red black and white...mine seems to be made with decent materials but lacks detail in the skull and crossbones...dunno...as I have found no suitable matches...could be something made up years ago and not German at...
Thanks all...to me it looks like a moose...but I am sure it was meant to be a skull and cross bones...flag was found in a vet clean out with his WWII uniforms and WWII medals... no unit identification...standard WWII types medals and ribbons...and most likely not a flag but a banner or...
No marks that I can see...kinda pitted...that web site was one of the ones I found also....I dig the barrel wrap at the muzzle...seems consistent with Belgium makers...from what I have found...any idea of value??? it is in rough shape..old and rough
at age 19, my first A-2 was a W&G...1985....was a great jacket...wore it for 6 years straight, was 285.00 I loved it, then bought a bigger W&G, and quality was baaaaaaaad...hide was bad, color was bad, lining was bad....zipper phooey,......
guess it depends on how much past post war we are talking...I have a few early USAF bancrofts in blue from the 50's that rock but not the WWII kinda look...in 47 the Army changed material too..sooo it kinda depends on the look you are looking for and condition etc...if it is a standard service...
