Looking at some boots with hand tooled uppers that are very stiff and dried out. Anyone have any luck "re-hydrating" something like this? What did you do? thanks, Rob

Brings to mind a conundrum...a few times I've seen a pair of boots in my size that I definitely would have gone after, but they had the original owners initials. I've passed on some real stunners because of this. I'm beginning to think that, since I never wear pants tucked, I shouldn't let that...

Heard back already... "The style number shows to be a Cowhide, name “Saddle Latigo” and has a Green Majestic shaft. They were in the Justin line for one year 1.97-1/98."

I think Justins had cloth labels through the 70's but not sure. I also thought they might be from the Vintage line. I reached out to my contact at Justin about them for you. May take a couple weeks but she'll get back to me with the info.

About 30 years ago, as I was nearing 35, I scratched my mid life itch and bought a Harley Davidson Sportster and a lot of black leather. I already had a pair of Frye "reindeer" boots, tall stovepipes with clunky heels... I had them dyed black and when riding the extra heel helped when stopped...

Sizing is such a crapshoot. I found a lovely pair of Mahan peanut brittle tegu with one piece vamps. Label is El Paso so could be Lama or Lucchese. They're stamped 10D but a 9-1/2C is more like it, can't even get my foot in...

My first pair were peanut brittle leather Acme's stamped to look like tegu, terrible fit but I wore them anyway. I had to have another pair, now I have Nocona's. Everyone should have a pair, they are classics.

Unusual treatment of the 3 piece vamp, don't usually see it like that. With that nicely stitched shaft you did well.

Gentlemen, what can you tell me about Larry Mahan's boots? They look well designed and tastefully designed. From the little I could gather it seems they were made for Mahan by several different companies over the years. I've seen cloth labels stitched in with both El Paso, TX and Nocona TX. I...
