So, what I am specifically interested in what content is available online that is either for or produced by the older crowd in vintage. What blogs do you follow that are done by someone over 40(ish)? What content do you see that shows or is geared toward over 40(ish)?
Hi all,
I haven't been on FL much lately and just kind of realized how much I've missed it.
I wanted to bring up something I have been thinking about for a bit. I follow lots of vintage blogs, sewing mostly, but general vintage too. I am now 41 and I've realized that there isn't a lot of...
Thrift store scores!
Wow, did I ever hit the jackpost at Value Village today. Two kilts, a wool cape/swing coat, a Harris tweed sport coat and a wool vintage looking suit. Check it out. (Apologies, the focus on the full length ones is fuzzy, I used my tripod and everything. Hmph. Oh, and no...
I do a combination of what styles look good on me and what eras I love. I have the prototype New Look figure and earlier 40s is pretty good for me. I prefer 40s styles over 50s, but I wear both since the 50s stuff looks so good on me and I do like it. Just not as much as 40s. I adore 20s styles...
Wow, thanks C-dot, that is enough of a list to keep me busy for sure!
In my brief survey of Kensington I did notice that it was mostly 70s stuff, but I do recall one shop that looked good, for 50s stuff anyway. I will need to get the map out and figure out where all this is in relation to...
I'm going to be coming down to Toronto Oct 11-16 for the Canadian Festival of Spoken Word (little plug, I'm involved, it's awesome.) While I am in the city, I will of course want to hit the vintage and fabric stores. I really don't know Toronto all that well, so I would like some tips on where...
I also colour my hair red and my husband is a natural red head. Every now and then I thought that might be silly, but since he shaves his head so the only red is his beard, I figure we're okay.
While we are on about pearls (which I agree with BTW) I have a question. I have 2 sets of double strand (one from each Grandmother) that I hardly ever wear becasue they twist around each other and look dumb. The both have clasps like this one, with the little prongs that fit in the little box...
I'm one of those people that seems to be able to manage to tell perfect strangers their undies are showing or they have food stuck on them or some such. I suppose becasue I do it in a smiley, bubbly, friendly way. Never had anyone freak out on me.
I always get mad when I see something amiss on...
Women do wear fur where I live (Ottawa) because it gets really freaking cold in the winter. Not just for dressup, but daily wear in the coldest months.
Is it just me or does this photo look like a bit of a photoshop disaster. Like her shoulders were shifted over to the left but not her head or hip. It may be the way the dress is draped, but your breast shouldn't line up with your chin that way. Beautiful, but a bit odd at the same time.
Oh, that's too bad. I was really looking forward to your photos. Are you in London or close by? With all the vintage things going on there, it must not be too hard to find someone who can handle vintage makeup and looks. Maybe you should ping Fleur, I bet she could point you in the right...
Not so much of a decision, but developing rosacea on my face has actually been a blessing in disguise. I take much better care of my skin now to keep the rosacea under control. I always wear sunscreen, I switched to non-irritating skin products and I think the most important thing has been using...
This is after brushing it out at the end of day 2 of a wet pin curl set. (I was farting around with some rolls, and when I was done, brushed it all out.) It has taken me forever to finally figure out how to get the kind of long waves I have wanted since I was a teenager. I've found a set that...
Just saw this video on the Advanced Style blog (a street style blog, but for older fashion lovers). Thought some of you might enjoy Lynn Dell's perspective.

There's more of Lynn on the blog, but here is a bunch of...
It takes me a fair bit longer than my non-vintage look, which is pretty low maintenance (read lazy), mainly for the time to do my hair. Naturally wavy/curly hair which for non-vintage gets some product, scrunching and then a brush through when dry. About as basic as it comes. I have got doing a...
Help! I am suffering a severe bout of indecision here. I am going to make up the short sleeve version of Lauren's pattern. I am having great difficulty choosing the fabric colour. (sorry for the size, I am having trouble with photobucket and can't get it right.)
I have it narrowed down to...
