I agree about just how serious this is. I was in Australia back in 96 and they took it very seriously. Small children wouldn't be allowed to attend school unless they had a hat on. Amusement parks had free sun block/screen available and on water rides you either put it on, or didn't go on it...
The funny thing is that the reason I started smoking in the first place was far from trying to look cool. I was a grown man, who had never smoked in his life. I was acting in a play and reading through the script in a small Greenroom with no windows, or ventilation and nine smokers, it was very...

Fantastic scans Havershaw. I love these. I'll have to try and get some of mine scanned, its not going to be easy as its a huge hardback book though.

Wow I love these, too rich for me at the moment, though I'm happy with the catalogue I got yesterday, its going to take me days to get through its over 1000 pages of 1939 fashion and style. Thanks for giving me the opportunity of seeing these two items Havershaw.
Regards Phil
Thanks PanamaBob for the link to yet another very interesting article. For a hat novice like myself this site is quickly proving to be a great education.

I bought a repro of the Army&Navy stores Ltd General Price List 1939-40 today and it is wonderful to look through. It is a fully illustrated catalogue covering everything you could possibly need, or want that was available in England in 1939. The list seems endless, with such things covered as...
I was a guitarist myself Michaelson and smoking seemed fine to me as well. Though I have to admit it doesn't help the vocal chords too much. Still today is my one week marker without smoking and I don't feel too bad.

Hi Wild Root
I love these images. I see Dick Powell was appearing at the Capitol Theatre, a singer who in my opinion was very underrated and who is often overlooked today. Thanks for sharing these pictures.

Its great seeing these, it just speaks volumes about the style of yesterday when compared with todays cheap plastic. These remind me of the Gramophone I used to have, it was an original HMV London made self contained model with horn built into the box and brass needle box onboard. It sounded...
Hi RayK
Thanks for sharing this. I'm new in town myself and really enjoyed reading this article. Its so nice to think that there still exists in the world craftsman who refuse to change their ways, or methods. Once again thanks for sharing.

Having found a free picture hosting site I'm going to attempt to share some images with you. Wish me luck I'm going to need it:(

During the 90's I was a stage actor and got the opportunity to wear some great original costumes and uniforms, which when I work out how to get pictures up I'll post for you to see. In most productions it was the standard repros that you'd expect. However in three shows all the costumes were...
