Hey pipe/cigar smokers! I need your opinion...

I'd certainly like to hear from that perspective!

tricks for a leaky soda siphon?

Hi folks! I'm putting together a modest home bar and, being a traditionalist to the core, I picked up a '60s or '70s vintage Soda King seltzer siphon to go with it (I'll drink my whiskey neat before I make a highball with seltzer from a disposable bottle, thank-you-very-much!). :-) I filled...

    Cowboy Boots

I've gone through quite a few pairs of western boots and various styles of lace-up work boots. I've found Durango products to be the best boot for the money. I have a pair of Durango motorcycle boots that I've had for five or six years and they've worn like iron. I also have a pair of...

Dobbs black stingy brim fedora sz. 7--mine on eBay

My dad picked up this nice old Dobbs fedora for me at a flea market, but unfortunately it's a 7 and I wear a 7 1/4. To eBay it goes! I put a starting price of just $0.95 on it. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320684022079&ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT If you have any...

What is your favorite hat crease?

My fedoras have teardrop or diamond crowns, and my western hat has a pinched telescope. I never feel like center dent / creased crowns or cattleman crowns look right on me. For me, it's a combination of what I admire other people wearing and what fits me personally. For the fedoras, I feel...

what's your favorite shaving brush and why?

I have an Art of Shaving brush and a vintage Ever-Ready brush, both badger hair. The Art of Shaving brush is softer and works well with creams, the Ever-Ready is more stiff and works well with soaps. If I had to choose, I probably prefer the Ever-Ready. The AoS set me back about $20...

    The Other Open Roads.....

http:// http:// http:// I picked this one up at a rummage sale for $1. I'd call that a good buy. Would "Society Club" be a brand or model name? Either way I hadn't heard of it before.

Gillette Slim Adjustable DE razor, mint w/ case--mine on eBay

For the wetshavers in the Lounge, I have a particularly nice 1962 vintage Gillette Slim Adjustable up on eBay. Starting bid is a low $9.95 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320667722628&ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT Send me a message on eBay and I'll be happy to answer...

Akubra digger / slouch hat 7 1/8--mine on eBay

I have an Akubra digger hat up on eBay now. It was going for cheap, so I bid on it even though it's a 7 1/8 and I usually wear a 7 1/4. Well, I got it and found that it is indeed too small for me (fits true to its 1/8 marking) and that the brim looked way too wide on me. Rather than...

How should straw boater hats fit?

I don't know about boaters. With fedoras, I personally like them to sit just above my ears. Some people like them to sit higher, but I don't care for that look on me. Like many things, a lot of it is just personal preference.

Adam Executive fedora 7 1/8--mine on eBay

Thanks for the info and the positive comments on the hat! I checked behind the sweatband and didn't see anything inticating the model. There was a damaged sticker that read "(illegible. . .) 1/8." Maybe it originally said the model and size.

Adam Executive fedora 7 1/8--mine on eBay

I have this very pretty, but moth-bit Adam fedora on eBay. I wear a 7 1/4, so this 7 1/8 hat sits a little bit higher than I like (and refuses to stay stretched more than a few hours). The minimum bid is a little steep, but I don't want to part with it for less than that. If anybody is...

Determining age of Akubra slouch hat

I picked up an Akubra digger / slouch hat on eBay and it's marked "1/8" rather than "7 1/8." Does that indicate that it's an older hat? The reason I ask is that I'm considering cutting the brim down by 1/2 an inch or so. This one looks WAY too wide on me; and brims that wide seem to get in...

Razors for sale: Dovo straight and Schick Type C Repeater

I'm not nearly as familiar with straight razors as I am with safety razors, so I'm not entirely sure how to answer that, but I'll do my best. I believe it would be described as hollow ground, but I don't know all that much about different types of grind. The overall length closed is 6." The...

    Leather/Roan sweatband manufacturers

I was thinking about trying to replace a sweatband on a hat a while back and I came across this site. I haven't tried ordering anything from them, but they do sell leather sweatbands. Good luck! http://www.hatsupply.com/mens_supplies.htm
