Jimi's was an original hussar pelisse bought from "I was Lord Kitchener's Valet". Here's a great clip featuring an interview with the shop owner shortly before he sold the jacket to Hendrix! To this day I've never seen another Hussar jacket with quite the same design - especially the arm swirls...
Here are a couple of pics from when I first got the hat -at least they show the colour very well. It's a beautiful vintage beaver pure felt. Has the original Adventurebilt staff of Ra liner. I will take some new pics tomorrow - it hasn't changed at all.
Asking price is $700. Will consider offers.
I'm thinking of selling my very special Adventurebilt Indy hat - made from a vintage (1926?) "mercury felt" hat body that Steve Delk had litteraly only a handful of. It's a size 59. Perfect condition. Bashed by me in the Raiders style (some folks may remember a photo tutorial I once put together...
Here's how it looks on! Obviously it looks brand new and not worn like Jimi's - time and wear should sort that out though and the gold should dull down in time too.
Well.. I comissioned it. I provided all the pics I could find and a few videos and asked whether it could be done on my budget of 550pounds. The guy spent several weeks on the project, sourcing materials which he felt best represented what he saw. In the end it cost me exactly 600 including...
I looked at that ebay jacket early on -it kind of looks the part but many of the details (including the basic cut of the jacket) are off. Also, up close, it really falls down as the materials used are simply wrong. Yellow woolen braiding instread of gold metalic braiding just for starts. I...
I've tried to find some info on where the original went - but no luck. Actually, I'm not sure whether he still had it after that first US trip. I know he wore it at Monterey and in San Francisco - not sure about back in England. I'll have to check my sources again. Maybe it disappeared in the...
Thanks for the nice comments. This won't be a display piece - I'll wear it! Possibly not as my everyday, go to work jacket, but certainly to events and special occassions - and on stage, of course!
Something a little different! Here is my replica of the (7th?) Hussars pelisse worn by Jimi Hendrix. I searched for years for a similar one but eventually gave up and comissioned this replica from a uniform specialist in England. He got pretty damn close I think!! Scuse me while I kiss the sky!!
