For me one of the greatest fascinations on flight-jackets is the presonalisation which can be found mostly on vintage american jackets like the A2, 55J15/G1 and versions, aso.
There is numerous books on the market to show "Noseart" on flight jackets and i think everyone who is into "vintage"...
Just to share some recent finds - both jackets dispaly patches of WW2 commissioned vessels:
N1 jacket in good condition with some period repairs in size medium (42)
the previous owner got pretty around or gathered patches from his comrades ...
"USS CONE DD 866" - Gearing Class Destroyer"...
Just purchased what looks like a N4 deck jacket to me.
It is in size 46 which is pretty rare (you know it anyway) so i grabbed it.
Condition looks pretty good to me except the collar.
Can someone help me out with the contract number or is it maybe a early mall- or hunting jacket?
Since i al ways liked the design of the G1 and the earlier variants over the design of the A2 flight jackets i started looking out for them.
Originals are still relatively easy to find and depending on size and age affordable.
I'm a 46 in G1 and meanwhile we are getting in "thin air"...
friend of mine offered me a coat/parka i've never seen before
The shell is in a kind of water repellant, coated fabric - lighter than N1 material
