Yes, well spotted. It is from Grosse Freiheit Nr. 7, a National Socialist era film but completely devoid of politics, and in a deceptively peaceful setting considering it is from 1944: It's all on youtube:

Ah the boho thing explains why the girl with the bearded chap has an almost 1960s look to her.
I think these pictures show the great individualism that could be found at a time which in many minds is associated mainly with sober-looking suits. Often here it is about how the suit is worn rather...
Would this be a rubber coat?
I like this t-shirt with summer scarf outfit, though I find the scarf purely ornamental and therefore couldn't justify wearing it. [huh] never say never I suppose.
Thought you'd enjoy these shots from the brilliant film The Red Shoes(1948).
I have included some casual outfits too. Hope you don't mind.
Suits dressed up and down, summer jackets, gratuitous cravat wearing ;) huge sunglasses:
Hello! I'm a loyal member of the lounge but a bit of a newbie in the hat section.
I'm looking for a pretty basic style of cap with a vintage cut.
This is the style that I'm after, for it's obvious wooing advantages:
Both summer and winter versions.
Any recommendations off the bat? Something...
All this makes me want a film screenshot thread, just watched a film called 'The Red Shoes'(many have compared it to the recent 'Black Swan') and want to post all the great outfits.
That's it I think, in some cases the stripes clash with the vertical line of the placket as they intersect. The horizontal stripes on a jumper accentuate the wearer's chest if one is thin.
I was surprised to see a similar shirt on sale at ASOS

Looks like someone has done their research...
Thank you for posting Fastuni, some great outfits and things that you rarely see in films, like the German leather jacket. The checked tie+shawl collar sweater+leather jacket combo is simply a perfect vintage look imho.
Interesting interview. I like to keep an open mind artistically, so it's good to see something different. Not really impressed by his work though. It doesn't seem artistic enough to be art or flattering/useful enough to be clothes.
Btw he said he doesn't like women about three times... Ok...
This version is great! Tbh I'm surprised the original hasn't been mentioned here before, it's a song that shares our ethos!
'No for real - ask your grandpa - can I have his hand-me-downs? '
Sick as in, I wish you could just dress so well without much effort nowadays. :) Of course I'm biased though.
I agree with your observations, I really felt transported to the era watching that film.
Thought this jacket in 'The Master' was rather marvelous. A very imposing look.
The character isn't portrayed as some kind of dandy. The fact that a regular guy in the late 1940s could pick up a random jacket that would look like this makes me sick. :)
