What colour RAF Flying boots???
I am talking about the 1936 pattern RAF Flying Boots.
Aero claims to be white - but looks brown (same colour as the Irvin)
Even seen pictures of Paddys Flying boots. The sheepskin looked brown too.
Isn't white sheepskin the true colour?
When was the Battledress introduced in RAF during WWII, as the common uniform for officers and pilots?
In all pictures from Battle of Britain it looks like they were flying in Service Uniform (long 4 pocket jacket with belt) - but when did they change to the short - and more practical...
I have seen it several times on e-bay: "WWII RAF Pilot Wings - Padded."
Were they in use during WWII - or was it just for the brass?
Or something that came later. One should believe, that there were no time for fancy stuff like that in wartime.
Or maye it was only for the VA's - didn't they...
I just love that TV-serie. Great stories, difficult enough mysteries, fairly accurate and true to the time. And wellplayed - especially by the leading characters. But what about the wardrobe?
I know that the Irvins has allready been discussed on WWII and got the  What do you ladies and...

Is it a true lifestyle?
Or something you do now and again with friends?
Or are you just using some vintage clothing for everyday wear.
Or are you maybe a collector of vintage...
Hi.
Who makes the best repro RAF Battledress jackets?
(Repro because of the sizes then and now - and my humble size)
Fall is comming up, and it sure would be nice to stroll around in a woolen RAF jacket - untill we get into the IRVIN kind of weather.
Thanks:)
Hi all. I just entered this great forum and began communicating right on, without an introduction. (Very uncivilized) So here it is:
I live just outside Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark.
I have worked in advertising my whole life. First as an artdirector, later I began writing and finally...
Just been reading through many of the old posts, and it seems like the flyboys are the majority here on this grat forum. Now why is that?
(Not that I mind)
Whats you favourit armed forces and why?
Allthough I had a short interest in the airborne some time ago - started by Band of Brothers, I...
Being new on this forum - sorry for asking something that maybe allready has been discussed. But where do I get the original white rollneck sweater the RAF pilots wore under their Irvin?
Great forum by the way!!!
