Interesting discussion.
I personally enjoy all clothing from jackets to boots, to shirts and trousers and what not so I try to buy what catches my attention and unfortunately, most often than not, it isn’t the cheapest thing. I like experimenting and try out different brands etc. I’m not the...
Covid or not if every customer they get is taking over 14 emails to finalise an order no wonder there are delays!
The jackets aren’t cheap but not as expensive as a car or house either :)
Looks nicely broken in! It’s hard to see some CXL properly softened up but I believe you manage to complete the task successfully.
Is it comfortable when zipped up around the waist? Looks like it’s quite a tight fit from the back (last photo). My Hooch Hauler fits similarly and the tightness...
The price is high because of the silver jewellery though not the leather right?
If a chrome hearts pendant/ring can set you back $900 I can see how it’s rather easy to reach $5000 quickly.
Personally don’t like the style of that jewellery, it’s like something I don’t know a rockstar who...
I’m no expert but I see zero advantage from a longevity point of view in handwelting vs machine welting. I also can’t see any visual difference if I have to be honest. It’s just one of those things I don’t care enough to pay more for (clearly a manual process is more labour intensive).
Looking forward to seeing the wall. You take this hobby to an all new level!
Moving out of London seems the only way to get some reasonable amount of space... we just moved outside Greater London last September and we couldn’t be happier.
I don’t get the difference the shaft length can make as surely it stays under your trousers?
Imho the difference between a more hardcore vs muted version of engineers has much more to do with the last and the sole/heel. A thick double leather sole with a high woodsman heel and bulbous toe...
A bit of front drop wouldn’t harm on this pattern. From the side you can also see that the jacket seems to be slightly rotated towards the back with the front riding up. Overall I still think it doesn’t look bad on you.
You can wear high rise trousers to alleviate the issue but... do you...
In hindsight, what about a Fine Creek perfecto from Rivet and Hide @Monitor? Awesome jacket, no duties, doesn’t fit or like send it back no issues.
Sometimes the custom route seems unnecessarily painful to me.
I’m sorry this happened Monitor. Botched stitching aside the (lack of) difference in size is what I find more surprising.
I decided a while ago I won’t buy anymore from custom makers that can’t disclose clearly the measurements of their jackets. I’m much more confident buying OTR in that case...
Up to the ankle they are the same as their engineers. They are nice boots I hope you’ll be happy and most importantly they fit your feet well.
That said... I’m itching for you Robbie, how can a man live in peace without a pair of engineers?! :) I’d be surprised if you can last a few months...
