    What's for Dinner?

Banana Foster is a dessert dish. It's bananas cooked in butter with brown sugar, cinnamon, vanilla, and bourbon served over vanilla ice cream. Bananas weren't in the gumbo, only smoked sausage and alligator. It was farm raised gator. You can buy it in the grocery stores around here.

    Western, anyone?

Cuz, the horsehair band looks real good on that one. Not sure I feel the same about the white stuff. Had me a belly full of that stuff this morning.

    Western, anyone?

That's a good looking Stetson. I like it with the sides rolled up. It has an Open Road sort of vibe to it.

    Fedoras afield

Misting rain, cold, and windy had me in a wool cap instead of a fedora for a drive up to visit Noccalula Falls, named for the Native American Princess whose statue is atop them, poised to end it all. If I'm remembering the story right her father sold her to be married to the wealthy chief of...

Feet Up! The Work Boot Thread

Up on my porch in a pair of fresh out the box Red Wings. These are an 8856, basically the 875 in oxblood. Close to 40 years ago now, when I got my first job, my dad carried me to the K-mart and bought me a pair of burgundy colored moc toe Texas Steer work boots with a white crepe sole. I was...

Hats and Drinks - A Match Made in Heaven

So far this week the only bottle I've opened has been the bottle of amlopidine the dr. gave me on Monday, but today was one of those days so I'm winding down a drizzly afternoon on the porch with this Langenberg cap and a taste of Wild Turkey 101

Hats and Drinks - A Match Made in Heaven

Those cast iron molds that look like little ears of corn are THE way to go. That's what my grandmother used for Sunday dinner. A regular skillet was for a weeknight supper. My dad used to have one that made little loaves shaped like bream, which was a fine thing in it's own right, but it wasn't...
