Nylon flight jackets and A-2's are the current micro obsession in my collecting habit. I recently did a count for another forum and I have 14 favorite jackets of one type or another. That did not include actual coats, like my Pea Coats or Barbour's. I figure I have to stop at some point but it...
Maybe try pulling them to where you want them, then getting them wet and holding them in that spot until they dry? Making sure they really conform around the rings.
MM, I'm too new on here to be able to send a PM so I'm afraid I'll have to ask in the thread (which I apologize for). What size is this Aero and if you decide to sell could you let me know (if the size is right) Thanks.
GW 1939 Werber in the light Russet HH. Seriously considering putting an order in for one of these very soon. Maybe it's arrival will coincide with next years tax refund. I have a feeling that the light horse will age and darken in a beautiful way giving a wonderful patina.
I'm a noob on here so my thoughts can easily be discarded by the more veteran members but I have to say, can't this just be left alone at this point. Everyone that wants to has had a say (or several) and now it's just back biting. Aero have stepped in and pretty clearly stated their position and...
My thought is this. If it's John Chapman that's making the jacket and it's your first from him (and possibly only) then it really should be an A-2. Even though all his jackets are going to be topnotch, he is the Master when it comes to A-2's and I feel that it's when making these he reaches the...
That's pretty much what I thought. I'm going to choose to think that Granddad was resourceful enough to 'acquire' himself an Irvin. No real harm in embellishing the family legend a little. ;)
A question for the Irvin experts here. Did RAF ground crew get to wear Irvin's as well or was it just pilots? The reason I ask is, my Grandfather was an instrument mechanic on Spitfires and Hurricanes during the war. He was stationed in a few countries at different times from the English coast...
I am definitely no expert but I really like the color of that fleece. The honey brown is beautiful. I am so tempted to get an Irvin of some kind. It is totally impractical for me here in California but I sorta don't care.
I don't have any direct experience but some companies in Europe use DHL and by all accounts they usually deliver in 3-4 days. I have had stuff from the UK sent that way and it was very quick. I have heard that the Italian Postal Service is a complete nightmare and stuff goes missing all the...
I have my eye on one of those Quartermaster A-2's as well. I've been resisting the urge to buy an Irvin of some kind. As I live in San Francisco it will only probably get worn for the 3 weeks a year I go home to England to visit family at Christmas. So, I'm thinking I'll spend the money on an...
