I was just in deepest Devon for 2 weeks and wore my GW A-2 and G-1 all over. I thought I saw one other, a possible Eastman while in Tavistock.
Me in G-1 and my favorite new accessory.
As for SF, where I live, I see one or two very occasionally but not many.
Done up, zipped or buttoned.
Edit: As people are being specific about it. If it's my zippered flight jackets, up about halfway in most situations. If it's the A-1, then up until two buttons from the top.
In Worf's defense, they weren't there yesterday. They had a message up saying they'd had a break down in production and were working to get things back to normal soon. I guess they meant 'really soon'.
Edit: It was the Solovair Direct site for US sales that has that message up.
I have a GW A-2 in HH that I've worn all over the place and it's a pretty tough piece of kit. Anything that would damage it would do the same to pretty much any other jacket. Same with the GW G-1 I just picked up. I also have an Eastman that seems a little less tough but still I would wear it...
Oh Boy! Anyways, all I know is, as a consumer, I love my Shinki hide jacket and think that the leather is pretty hard to beat. I've seen (in person) quite a few other jackets made from it and have nothing but praise for it. In the interest of balance, I have no personal experience with Victory...
The highlights are as follows: GW Dubow 20960, GW A-1(Test Jacket), soon to arrive GW L.W. Foster G-1, Eastman x Heritage Research A-2 and two Buzz Rickson B-15C Mods. There would have been a few more but I just sold a bunch I wasn't wearing.
Ha ha, I wondered how long it would take for that interview to be discovered. I'm pleased to say I helped in a small way with content editing/suggestions. The author is a friend of mine and I think he might be a member here but I'm not positive of that. I know he reads FL and he'll appreciate...
Worf, I just ordered a pair of their M-43 Service Boots and received them in under a week. Although I did wonder at first because they didn't send any shipping notice or tracking info. The boots just showed up in the mail one day. Hopefully you get your issue solved soon. I wonder if they...
Anyone know the story behind that odd looking ring in the collar on the distressed version?

Also, it looks like all the descriptions now say steer hide when I was pretty sure they all originally said sheep?
As the owner of a jacket that was given a hot wash before coming into my possession I can attest to the fact that, leather may be tough enough for this but things like cotton zipper tape and thread may not be. So yes, be careful.
So, I'll be taking my jacket into Johnson Leathers on Saturday. Last chance for anyone out there to say 'don't do it'. I'll post my feedback on how it goes and if i decide to have them do the work, I'll post a review of the finished repair.
Most of the regulars here will know these photos very well but if you want to see the range of fits that were around during the war then these give you a pretty good idea. http://www.goodwearleather.com/pages/links.html Just scroll down and check out the Doolittle crew pictures. Virtually no two...
Oh no, that is not what was intended by my post at all. I quite understand that the very fine folks at Good Wear aren't able to do it. Please don't start trouble between me and them because I want nothing but good things for them and will hopefully be a lifelong customer.
They have given me a...
So, in the near future my third hand GW Dubow is going to need a new zipper as the pin on the non-slider side is starting to separate from the binding. John recommended Dena at Great Leather, who has already been great to deal with and I'd be fine with that but they are in Illinois (I'm in S.F...
I have bought a couple 'dead stock' American made Alphas and they both had the odd loose thread end but to me that looks like a factory second that Alpha itself would probably never have sold but got picked up as a job lot by someone. Mine were pretty much as crinkled up as that though and as I...
