Through google translate, I discovered my Attractions grizzly jacket is made out of aniline-dyed nume horsehide.
Have folks had experience with nume leather? A quick search of the Lounge turned up just one thread where the word "name" was misspelled, and a google search just turned up some...
A vintage leather enthusiast purchased this jacket at the Inspiration show this weekend, took the jacket two booths down, and had the jacket repaired. The wear and patina was exactly what he was looking for, and he proudly sported the beat up jacket the entire weekend!
You've got the date range nailed pretty well. Tons of manufacturers offered this style of jacket, so that may be harder to pin down. Recent closed ebay auctions value these style of jackets between $150-250.
The Vintage Fashion Expo won't be worth your time, go to Inspiration instead.
The only vendor at VFE worth seeing is Reese's Vintage Pieces or Ardis, both of which can be contacted directly. Trust me, you'll be happier at Inspiration.
I'm not sure what you are asking re: the first question. Are you looking for name brands for vintage shirts from the 1940s and 1950s? Or modern brands?
The second question is easy, 1940s and early 1950s shirts had larger pointier collars generally speaking.
