Hello everyone,
I'm looking for a fabric that could withstand heat at around 100 C / 210 F , but wouldn't be a harsh material. As pliable and soft to the touch as possible. Thoughts..??
Dear TFL members,
A question about flanging...
If the front and back of a flange is lets say 3cm (1.2inches), and the sides are 1.5cm(0.6inches), after flanging, will the hat 'snap' and stay nicely? Attaching a picture of a result I'm looking for.
Thank you in advance for your answers!

Question for y'all...
I've seen some writing on a hats' brim. What would be your best guess as what they used to write with?
Attaching picture for reference.
Thanks in advance!
A question to the fam...
Does anyone know where can I buy these leather buckle bands in UK/Europe? Etsy and Ebay/Amazon is searched already.
Attaching picture for reference.
Warmly,
Emilis
It sounds crazy, but one of my friends offered to loan me some money for the tools! I have a block coming to me already, I have a self-made tollicker, I'm going to make a pusherdown aswell, instead of buy a pullerdown I just bought a boomerang, so I only need a flange and a rounding jack (which...
I agree, but I would believe that over the years someone might have made a modern version/approach to this.
Which book would you recommend for me to read?
Im always researching excisting threads, but I haven't read any book yet. One member recommended me 'Hats' by Alison Hart. Any other modern literature out there?
So the situation for me is like this... In my country, there is literally only one lady that makes hats, and when I started asking questions about apprenticeship, she clearly started ignoring. Next, there is no course in any school that teaches anything related to hat making. Then the global...
But that's the thing, I do not want my hats brim to be flat, nor to be facing up like your "flat" hats brim is. The ones I would like to make, the brim would be facing down. Is there a flange for that aswell?
Another question...
I've been doing my research on hat steamer alternatives and I came across an idea of buying a wallpaper stripper steamer, cutting off the hose to 4 to 6", and theres your hat steamer! I need opinions on this. Thank you in advance everyone!
Thank you for your answer kind sir. Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to overestimate my abilities, not at all! I'm here to learn. And everything that I'm saying, is something that someone in this group have already told me.
Could you please explain to me, which flange was used, in your...
I'm actually won't be needing a flange, as I'm not going for a traditional style of fedoras brim. Attaching a few pictures of what I will be going for... THOUGHTS?
I totally understand where are you coming from my friend, I'm just gathering as much useful information as possible. I'm more interested in leather sweatbands myself. And thank you for the motivating story!
