If you're going to use it for riding, I wouldn't pick lamb that's for jolly sure. Heavy weight horsehide or steerhide all the way.
If it's just a non-riding jacket you're after in a light weight leather, they're a dime a dozen on eBay. Sorry for not being more specific but not exactly my area...
Aquascutum do make lovely stuff but that there's just a bloody have. Mind you it's the old marketing adage, plonk a famous, cult connection no matter how tenuous on something and add an extra zero on the end of the price tag.
1,500 bucks for a raincoat is nuts, but as they say, there's one born...
Yup Edward, I'm with you there, I'm super chuffed with my Wested Indy, they're fantastic jackets and as you point out so very versatile. I got mine in the soft seal cowhide which I'm super happy with, it drapes exactly like goat but builds up wear and starts a patina quicker. It's funny, I've...
It might go against the grain here but I don't think there is the ultimate or "holy grail" jacket for me personally now. I have a few I love to wear - my ELC Irvin, my Aero Barnstormer and - this might raise a few eyebrows here - even my Wested Indy jacket. I love leather jackets but I've...
Thor, the ELC Air Comfort is an itch I having that needs scratching. I started a thread on these back in 2007ish and once a year when I get reminded it pops into my head that I really want one. I guess I just have to do it.
Really looking forward to the pics when it arrives, it's the archetypal...
Looks awesome and the fit is great - you don't want a super trim fit in these longer jackets.
Also, nice to see a longer length new jacket around here, these were mighty popular back in the mid to late noughties here on the Lounge and are very typical of the Golden Era in terms of design and...
I'll post some of mine but you'll have to give me a day or so, it's Norway's National Day tomorrow and that's a big thing here, so right now I'm helping polish the silver on my wife's bunad (national costume) and helping her bake 4 different cakes - and I'm not really good at either, hence I've...
OK, here you go, the measurements for my size 40 Barnstormer:
Pit to pit: 23''
Shoulders: 19''
Sleeve length: 25.5''
Back (from bottom of collar to hem): 31''
As you'll see they're sized larger than a normal tagged 40 size Aero jacket but one thing to note is the shoulder size isn't...
Looks good but if you don't mind my saying you're on the limit in terms of sleeve length and you can see in the back view photos that you haven't got too much to spare across the back of the shoulders. Not that that's necessarily a bad thing, if it feels good to wear. Snug and trim can be good...
With that look Scott, you'd fit right in over here :D
I have to agree here Bob, the jerky hides were all the rage a few years back but have probably been a bit forgotten and overlooked after the whole Shinki/Vincenza/Italian/etc hide buzz of the last couple of years. That seal jerky really...
Seriously beautiful A-2, I really like the rust knits - those would be my choice with seal. Is that seal Vicenza by the way?
As others have said, wear the absolute hell out of it, it'll just look better and better.
I think Craig has hit the nail on the head. There was nearly a warehouse full of the stuff and cataloguing, taking pics and measurements plus the accompanying tsunami of emails would have been more than a herculean task.
Shame for us not nearby but there's nothing stopping anyone with the spare...
Honestly MC if you like Indian food pick Rick Stein's book up, you'll cook the best Indian food you've ever had and that's including from restaurants. It helps if you have a good Indian grocery shop nearby as a few ingredients in some of the recipes are a little esoteric if you're not from...
Kids, nicking stuff which isn't yours is never a good idea. Apart from being highly immoral you'll eventually end up getting a bloody good kick up the backside (literally and/or metaphorically) ;)
Shame the sale is only at the factory - I totally understand - but it would've been fun for those...
