Well, to be fair, during those good old days all denim was high quality selvedge. So giving a darn wasn't even part of the landscape, people by default had a great denim.
Thanks for the photos and the informative and enthusiastic review. Stunning jacket and nice fit. I agree it fits you like a glove and it certainly appears going with the 42 was the right choice. I like the color of the jacket as well. I have the feeling people will start buying more of DDs stuff...
Monitor, I think you need to look into getting a Cascade. A few months ago I posted one without identifying it in the shirt tucked / untucked thread and I remember it drawing a very positive reaction from you. It's a superb design and classic in it's own right. As Pawineguy mentions, it was one...
Doh! That jacket is amazing. I hadn't seen the fit pics until now and it is indeed the perfect leather jacket. If you're only going to own one, that's one to own.
Man, you can just retire in ease knowing you have that one in your pocket. It looks a lot better on you than in the period ads...
Yup, I was going to guess 26.5, which is the length of a actual 40s jacket I own with a very similar fit (but a design more akin to the Wayfarer). These 'longer than short' jackets are really my favorites these days and your photos remind me why. Enjoy that one!
Happy to see a Cascade on the lounge! IMO the Cascade is one of the best minimal designs around and I'm puzzled that it doesn't get more play on here.
I think the jacket looks fantastic. I love the goat and it's a nice fit all over. I can see how adding a touch in front on your custom probably...
I'm intrigued by the Plainsman and am thrilled to see one on the lounge. Congrats on a magnificent first Aero purchase! It looks better than good on you - truly a perfect, comfortable looking fit.
I agree the color of the hide is very nice and, having a similar jacket myself (a true 40s one...
I myself have never really enjoyed the 'process' of choosing and buying a jacket as much as many here do. I love research and the knowledge of culture, history, leather, etc. that comes along with exploring leather jackets options and styles, and the learning from other guys on here who know...
Yeah, I now nothing about Irvins but I would just stick it up for a price YOU think is reasonable. Don't try to gauge somebody but don't short-sell yourself (or the jacket) either. If people are interested, but don't want to pay you're asking price, they will likely contact you and make offers...
Haha, indeed. When I saw that improved GW Imperial, with the better placed pocket, it struck me that the jacket just about covers all the sweet spots for this enthusiast. A rare and beautiful animal, that jacket.
Definately one for insurance :)
Though, to be honest, I share that basic thought and sentiment, Windstorm. For me, there's a certain romantic note about someone (or the idea of someone) who owns and wears one or two great leather jackets and sticks to them for years and years. Probably because...
For me a nice mix of vintage and new. I'm size 40 so vintage is doable. With vintage jackets there is usually less money on the line and for longer jackets, at least in my limited experience, the drape is often better on vintage. I also like the feeling that the jacket and I are both coming...
I love the warm dark brown look of that leather. The color reminds me a lot of a 40s belted leather jacket that i have. A handsome, easy wearing brown with a little pop.
