Great hat @Woodtroll
The man is an artist, great to deal with, and a good business man to boot. From my experience it's rare that those things aren't mutually exclusive.
Thanks Bowen, much like Brent I think around 3 1/2 is my limit so yes the curl is in order. Did you curl your own?
I'm actually a 7 3/8 but I found this hat in obscurity it was $31.00 shipping included....
I had the seller measure it and it was on the bigger side of 7 1/4 and with the bow...
Thanks Brent. It's undergoing a very minor stretch at the moment. I plan on curling the generous brim to tone it down slightly and it's going to be my poor man's Boss Raw Edge - or I guess Boss Bound Edge.. With the straight tall crown when it gets a center dent it has that cool reverse taper.
My latest acquisition arrived today. Stetson No. 1 Quality
I expected the felt to be thick but it’s the thinnest hat I have handled to date. It’s in beautiful shape aside from the liner and bow are missing and some of the stitching on the sweatband has been torn.
The hat was shipped open crown...
That's a fine looking hat and a great find. I have scoured many antiques malls and vintage stores and have yet to find anything impressive. You are in my city and the same size! Where haven't I looked??? ;)
Wow Scott! Excellent work. I might just have to give one a go. That’s a pretty spectacular hat at a good price!
Are you already planning on making another?

If you don’t have one of his hats yet I highly recommend him. Well priced and amazing craftsmanship as well as a pleasure to work with. I’m staring to overpost here but oh well! Here is one of the inside.

Thanks Ken. The colour is called ‘Cactus’ it’s kind of a deep forest green slightly darker and more green than the felt. The dark moss is a real chameleon and difficult to photograph the true colour. There are more photos in the Gannon thread. Here it is with direct sunlight which emphasizes the...
Wearing my Moss Green Gannon today. Over the weekend I ironed out the brim to move the flange closer to the brim edge. I’m really happy with how it turned out.

This is one of my recent acquisitions that will be shipping out this week. The size is unknown but just judging from the scale of the photos I think it will fit me. If not I will post it up on the classifieds. If anyone has some info on it that would be appreciated. Looks like a pretty...
Been listening to Blaze on pretty heavy rotation lately.
Some rare live footage followed by one of my top favourite songs.

Now that’s clever. As a bespoke hat maker would this be better than having several of the same blocks in different sizes?

I was considering going for this one but I probably won’t bid. Been on a bit of a tear lately.
Looks like a nice example though.

On a side note I have been researching millinery tools and I think I am going to start a small run of some items. Definitely not as a business just for fun.
