Offering an Aero Sheene Jacket originally ordered through Thurston Bros., barely broken-in, made with Vicenza “blackened brown” horsehide. The “blackened brown” takes on a wonderful depth of tone and luster over time- a “tea core” black with brown highlights, and just looks better and better...
Beautiful jacket and a superb fit! In particular, I'm really liking the single point back yoke, and the slanted pockets combo with regards to the old Bates racing jackets from the 60's. Drawing from classics like those old Bates was a well chosen inspiration that looks good on you! Looks like a...
Not sure about AMF- at least the AMF cafes I've owned that have been made for Harley Davidson. They differ in a number of ways...different snap, different stitching on the front.
Here's an old AMF I sold a while back.
I love it when a jacket has a story to tell, some character from years of honest use, or at least spent some time around the track more than a few times. I'd rather have the real deal than some new jacket that's been obviously "distressed" or faked wear. But it's not for everyone...

I actually like the look of the one Monitor posted! If it wasn't for the damage in the collar, I'd definitely wear it...or at least frame it on the wall if it was a Buco or a Langlitz.
But maybe one person's "patina" is another person's damage?
Personally, I draw the line at holes in the...
I just emailed them directly to find out- here's their answer: "they are made in Europe with certified, Italian leather. We work with a few workshops in Italy, Spain, and Portugal."
I've become a big fan of the Satchel and Page slim mailbags! I use mine daily. Perfect size and a well made durable satchel for everyday carry. Good luck!
Typically, I've found the sleeves on the Type 3 jackets are always too short for my liking. So this finally give me the option of ordering one with longer sleeves. Unfortunately, the Troy Mills wool lining would be much to warm for around here. And I can't wear anything with wool anyway. So...
Still don't understand why these don't command the same sky-high prices as a Buco. Each Cal Leather jacket was hand made, custom fit, with the earlier ones made out of Horsehide. In a perfect world, they really should be pricier than a Buco...
Jeez...sure was a steal at that price! These Cal Leather cafe jackets rarely come up...and even rarer in that amazing condition! If I didn't own 3 already, I'd be all over that...
You're going to miss that beauty when it's gone!
I can understand if John had to answer every last email and call that came in, perhaps he’d have no time to concentrate on making the jackets. But I also believe that after 2 or 3 years of waiting one should be able to expect some sort of confirmation or reply that we’re still in the cue and...
I’ve been through a fair selection of leather messenger bags over the years, all abandoned for one reason or another. But recently I picked up a Satchel and Page slim mail bag. It’s small and light enough for every day carry items, not as ponderous as my heavy full size leather US Mail bag...
I've owned the Aero/Levis Blue Black Speedway in both a large and an extra large. If it's any help, my experience was that the extra large fit more like a size 42 around the chest. And even though the arms measure out to 24" long, they seemed a bit longer...maybe it was the added shoulder...
Good Wear - John and company... from my understanding he has an assistant to take care of correspondence and customer service. But maybe I'm wrong about that...which might explain the lack of response.

Same here. Been in the cue for almost 3 years now. I sent them a couple of emails, and left a voice mail...nothing. Complete silence. I assume they're still in business, only based on the scant signs of life on the web page. Just a simple reply would go a long way...
It's been my experience in hunting for vintage Cal Leather jackets that the cafe racers are super hard to find...especially the ones with shoulder and elbow padding. For every 30 or 40 Cal Leather CHP jackets, maybe one cafe racer comes along. And the racing shirts are even more rare.
I've been...
Thanks! Yes, I was surprised too. These vintage Cal Leather jackets are all custom made, and typically with horsehide. Personally, I've always considered them totally undervalued, especially when considering the quality, the pedigree and rare factor. You definitely scored!
