    What Are You Reading

"Witness to a Century" got me hooked on GS. That book led to more Seldes and his reference to "American Reporters on the Western Front 1914-18" had me seek it out. No. 3 on my to read stack. His "In Fact" publications are interesting as well.

End of Manual-Transmission Era - Honda Accord

Milage? If you dropped my 3 on the tree 304 CJ7 from a C130 with the engine off i doubt you'd get better than 15mpg. If you didn't get right into traffic after a fill up you would just back up to the pump again and top off. Loved it. But I digress. Tom D.

    What Are You Reading

Written in 1935 by the man who seems to have been everywhere and met everyone, Seldes pulls few if any punches. Seldes was an accomplished newspaper man and author, the former being evident in his style. Always engrossing he takes you along on an intimate exploration of a man he knew...

What cigar (or pipe) did you smoke today?

Fuente Anejo #77Shark because why not. Temperature drop will call for smaller cigars soon enough. Even though we can dress for the weather a cigar of larger size cracks all too often. Coronas mostly are on the horizon. Be safe, Tom D.

Uisce Beatha - A Discussion of Irish Whiskey

Received a bottle of Bushmills Millennium on my 50th birthday. It only comes out to play on my birthday and even then it's just a short one in a Glencairn glass. Dip the neck in wax and back it goes to into a dark cupboard. It's worked for 19 yrs. Now the spirit. Smooth sweet oak that just...

End of Manual-Transmission Era - Honda Accord

Most fun I had driving was my 79 Accord LX. Drove it into the ground in a mere ten years. First front wheel drive and never stuck in the snow. Next three vehicles were jeep cj and yj's because of the reliability. Bad battery you just park on a hill and pop the clutch to get you to the auto...

End of Manual-Transmission Era - Honda Accord

I've been trying to get my 95yj stick classified as anti-theft equipped but the insurance company won't bite. Nobody under 40 seems able to drive a manual transmission. I thought this was the age of the multi-tasker. Tom D.
