Just so you know -- I mentioned OCD in the "What hat" thread earlier and I wasn't being flippant. It actually does take me ten to fifteen minutes to convince myself that my house is secure enough to leave for work. The idea of sanding your hat's felt may seem a bit scary but it's actually not so bad if the area you are trying to clean or smooth is fairly shallow. Thanks! It's a good hat although the binding slants such that the ribbon grains don't point to the center of the hat... Same can be said of the Whippet but on that one the ribbon slants one way on the overwelt side, and another way on the underwelt side -- so the darn thing was sewn in that...- blueAZNmonkey

If you ever have a hankering for homburgs, I've got a 6 3/4 Churchill in gray you can have for twenty bucks plus shipping I think ribbon width has more to do with the crown style of the hat than the decade. I've seen pork pies from the 40's and 50's with ribbon widths greater than 2". Overall...- blueAZNmonkey
