Alexander Leathers Roadster fit advice (with pics)

To me the waist looks much to large. You could fit a watermelon underneath that jacket. You probably need to ask them to size down below the armholes to get a neater fit at the waist. Lengthening the jacket won't help a bit IMO. I agree with nick that the side view is not very flattering.

    Show us your SHOES !!!

LuvMyMan, thank you very much. I never dared to soak the fabric as well up till now. This is probably going to shorten the process considerably.

    Show us your SHOES !!!

Luvmyman, all vintage shoes I have are half lined with linen. When soaking them in conditioner, du you also soak the linen? And if yes, how do you get the fabric clean again?

    Short Highwayman Jacket

I think it's a matter of taste. Dan's jacket looks like a perfect length to my eyes while I find HD's too long. I am 186, so about 6'1.5" and my 30s half belt is 24.5". My torso is slightly shorter compared to my lower body and if anything, I find my jacket is bordering on the long rather than...

    Another Teamster

Small differences like this can't be avoided when working with such heavy leathers. Aero have a statement regarding this on their website. Just enjoy your jacket. :)

    Drycleaning Vintage Suits?

Yes, I've done that. Most cleaners don't offer the service, though. And the critical part about it is that they need to have staff who know how to use a press and iron to give the jackets their shape back. Bad ironing can pretty much ruin a suit. It's good to get out those nasty odors.

As new aero leathers brown fqhh barnstormer 38"

Thanks. I guess it is like with all Aeros so far. I need to have them tapered down below the armholes to accommodate my chest-waist-drop. If it was smaller in the waist I'd be seriously tempted.

As new aero leathers brown fqhh barnstormer 38"

Interesting. You seem to have even longer arms than me. How tall are you, if I may ask? What's the shoulder width and the width at the waist level?

    Moleskin Lining

Drax, you could ask for a button and loop closure for the inner pockets.

FS: Eastman ELMC Californian American Walnut Size 44

That would still rather make it a 40 than a 44. The garment needs to be bigger than the actual chest size or you can't wear it.

    Chino?

I would recommend the 1942 model Buzz Rickson khakis.

XXL 1930's German Tweed Sportcoat Beltback

If it was a 40/42 with the same sleeve length I would have bought it right away.

XXL 1930's German Tweed Sportcoat Beltback

From Berlin? I wish I knew who the tailor was. It is certainly not an easy task to find a tailor who can get the period details right and achieve a good fit at the same time.

So who are the Aero Fanboys ( and girls)

Why did you ask for Aero specifically and not for jacket makers in general?

Agreed. Spare yourself the hassle and make someone else happy.

If it is truly a large size it shouldn't be recut. Large sizes are scarce while black suits in 38R or 40R can be found quite easily.
